I had a phone message someone left the other day while I was out in the field. Someone from some real estate office was looking for a 'recent survey' of a particular piece of property. They were all business. I might even describe their tone as brusque, but it was a machine to which he was speaking after all. I had to listen to the message two or three times to get the lot, block and addition correct. It was local and there is a strip mall on that parcel.
I've never done anything there so I just ignored the call. The funny thing was he was not just looking for a 'recent survey', he left instructions on what to do with the survey if I had one. I needed to send copies to some address here in town, and he was needing it quick due to an impending closing. Ha.
I had lunch a day or two later with another surveyor from here in town. I mentioned the call and he had received the same call on the same day. We surmised this fellow was blanketing local survey firms in an attempt to get his mitts on a copy of a survey. I don't guess I can fault someone for trying. But the turn-off was his drill-sergeant style issuance of instructions should we be in possession of something he needed. It was in general a rude call.
My prediction is this young man won't make it very long until he needs to find another line of work.
Call him back, tell you you've got a closing lined up to sell a tract, but you need him to find a buyer ASAP.
