Had to do some research before remembering to what this refers. I will need to be very careful to how I respond to keep this from getting moved to P&R area.

If your local planning agency is making any reference to this you need to do your homework. Surveyors working anyplace that local planning is adopting this agenda will need to constantly update themselves as the planning requirements will be changing constantly. Discussion of the implementation of Agenda 21 is likely to be less than rational on both sides.

This is a United Nations program/agreement to increasingly include the "Green Agenda" in all activities of the U.N., federal, state and local government. The online U.N. document states "Agenda 21 is a comprehensive plan of action to be taken globally, nationally and locally by organizations of the United Nations System, Governments, and Major Groups in every area in which human impacts on the environment."

Arguments supporting and against are also available online.

This should definitely be moved to P&R. It's a power grab of world wide freedom by the UN. The left in our country is embracing it. It is very dangerous to our freedoms.

I hope my counties planning commission chair doesn't get wind of this crap.

He already has a severe case of HDD (Honesty Deficiency Disorder, the PC term for being a liar).

He has claimed many different 'requirements' are based on state regulations until pointing out that what he claims is absolutely false.

Next thing you know he will be claiming the UN can set requirements on our local planning regulations.

OK, so I watched about a minute of one of the videos, and it is dated 1992. So that's 20 years ago, right? What's the story here?

Discussing what it is should definitely be under land surveying.

Anyone wanting to argue its merits or demerits should start a new thread under P&R and not drag this thread there.

As it was posted it is a P&R subject. To discuss small parts, say growth management could be a Land Surveying Topic. I read the question what is it, and posted what it is. I could have gone much further.

As others have pointed out, this pact was 20 years ago, and I've never heard of it before today, so it seems like a non-issue to me.

Sheeple, huh? Like I said, I've never heard in my life any plan to build something being denied because of "Agenda 21". Enviromental concerns, sure. "Agenda 21", nope. Can you provide any evidence that the strings of planning boards are being pulled by the UN? Sheeple, or paranoia?

I Started a [msg=139938]new thread[/msg] in P&R (A FIRST FOR ME) and do not intend to follow or further comment on the thread. As I said above "Discussion of the implementation of Agenda 21 is likely to be less than rational on both sides." I do believe there are crazies on both sides of this and in areas where either group of crazies takes control craziness will follow as a natural course of events. [sarcasm]I try to avoid craziness as a matter of self protection.[/sarcasm]
