I wanted to get everyone's opinion about how they go about complying with this option if you are in a state that does not mark utilities for "design" as we have in FL. Seems like a lot of work to contact all of the utility companies and request asbuilts, plus the time it would take to get them back.
Thanks
Derek

Welcome aboard Derek. We are required by state law in NC to call in the locate on any survey. This mandate has made it tough to get utilities located when you actually need it for design. I note it on the ALTA/NSPS survey like this.

Most of the Sewer and Water guys are really good at locating the utility and providing the plans. It's the communications locators that don't get the job done, and if you ask for plans don't expect much.

We use a private locating company and pay for them to locate the utilities.
The cost is included in our budget and is included in the invoice.
It is the best way to get the most information.
I for one would hate to put a note on the survey saying that I called for locates
and this is all they gave me even though I know there are more.

‰Û¢ evidence from plans requested by the surveyor and obtained from utility companies, or provided by client (with reference as to the sources of information)

I use the OR in the statement. I require the client to provide them. They say Item 11 is required, I say plans are required.
