What the heck happened?
I say shrug it off. Maybe you missed a post that made the whole sub-thread start to deteriorate. I made a post the other day that got deleted as well. I didn't think it was offensive, but I don't think Wendell is in the position to analyze every post and consider what innuendos might be there. He will make decisions that I don't agree with, but that's just the way it is. I am not going to monitor the site.
(P.S. I didn't seeing anything that I would consider offensive in the above-deleted thread either....and I either would disagree or I missed the offensive post as well.)

This particular topic is a real life situation and is of genuine concern.
As a matter fact, the interest in the surveying community must be real, look at the total number of page views, there are over 4,000
Well, so much for my attempt to share my situation with the surveying community.
Only to be edited and censored.
IMO the guy who prepared the plat and the lot that I'm retracing was the dumb one. Real life situations that causes a heated debate is good for our profession, but not here i guess
Whatever
Adiós, muchachos

I thought about leaving this site, but there are a few people I have not yet insulted.
Bob, I'd give Beerleg another try. At your don't have to pay to get insulted.

You'll want to take up the issue with Paul in PA, who decided that calling previous posters to this thread "stupid". That is highly unprofessional and adds zero value to the discussion.
If you want to leave because I moderated a non-professional comment, then I guess that is your choice. But you are leaving because one person made a bad choice to ruin a perfectly good discussion by insulting others, rather than discussing the issue like a professional.

What the heck happened?
Stupid is as stupid does
And apparently there are a lot of stupid surveyors out that do stupid things
What the heck happened?
Bob:
Not trying to put gas on a fire, just trying to understand. Why is the platting surveyor in error? Is there a zoning requirement that specifies all lots must be 43,560.00 Square Feet or 1.00000 Acre? He created a lot, 1.00 acre, that by dimensions, does not equate to 43,560 Sq.Ft. I'm not seeing the big deal here.
Is the lot 1.00 Acre or not? You said it was.
I'm confused.

Target, the problem was me talking about a compass rule adjustment before using the data from subdivision plat, prior to doing comps. It is the only way I have found that will force a match by getting the error introduced by rounding off distances out of the picture, it causes the bearings and distances to be of equal value and holds the bearings as platted. A useful thing to do, but it will not correct what was being discussed. That is what was pointed out to me. Must admit that my post about the use of the compass rule did not fit the conditions being discussed, but I left it in, because it was a useful tool when dealing with a subdivision where small changes not matching record is not justified, reviewers want a match and you don't want to do a bunch of editing of what your cogo results were. My response to the comment, was pointed. Wendell was justified in removing both, I thank him for doing so.

What I should have said was that the idea was "dumb" to propose to attempt to adjust out a 209 SF shortage. Instead it appeared I was calling a specific person dumb.
I do not recall calling anyone "stupid".
From what I recall a certain poster or posters failed to read the first post and understand the size of the shortfall.
Jumping to a conclusion based on failing to understand the problem can be called a lot of things by a lot of different people, but I used the word that I used and it is too late to take it back.

People make mistakes and sometimes a written communication is misinterpreted. Life goes on, the world keeps spinning. Apologize as necessary.

I guess an apology isn't really warranted, right?

Whoa.
A muchacho with identity issues. (As in: who the heck does he think he is?)
Have we been visited by the elusive "World's Best Surveyor?"
Don
Picture Snoopy at a desk with Marchand Calculator...
Here is the World Famous Land Surveyor calculating the area...43,351 square feet = 0.9952 acres USE 1.00 acres.
Don,
Did you read his earlier post?
