Probably a generic cad issue. But FYI, Using Carlson/Itellicad 10.x

The problem:

In modelspace, INvoke Zoom/extents, then soo far out the drawing objects are not visible.

Draw a large circle r=36 million and usually a after a zoom/extents command the large circle is seen and the violating objects can be erased. Not in this case.

Invoked zoom/e, only dark space seen. Inverse from a known xyz point to random point in the dark space. Here is the inverse length:

PointNo. Northing(Y) Easting(X) Elev(Z) Description
601 399234.994 1507976.396 53.170 plan
[Arc/Close/Distance/Follow/Undo/<Pick point or point numbers>]:
Segment length: 7434810003892050191205575469655807711648899454222729216.00, Total length: 7434810003892050191205575469655807711648899454222729216.00

Clearly way out there. And curser vanishes when dragged in modelspace window.

Did an audit. One error fixed but it did not solve the problem.

Zoom/to Point sends back to drawing objects. So can live w. the bug but like to know what is causing the problem

I'm not a cadd guy, but can you select everything OUTSIDE a window and delete?

In Softdesk there was a block called "ADCADD_ZZ" (or something like that). It had no visible entities, but it contained non-visible attributes that told the software what project to connect the drawing to. That old block persists today in a lot of templates. Could be that one of those blocks has infected your drawing.

Whatever, your simplest solution may be to do a selection set by window and WBLOCK out your drawing elements to a new drawing, hopefully leaving behind whatever is way out in outer space.

Sounds like you have some objects at 0,0. ZOOMEXTENTS and delete the objects at 0,0, or ZOOMMOST will zoom to your main bulk of objects and go from there.

One method is:

1) Thaw and turn on all layers.
2) Zoom out slightly so you can see the area you want to keep.
3) Issue the ERASE command, enter ALL (don't complete yet).
4) Issue R (for remove) and window off the good location objects.
5) Complete the erase.
6) Purge, purge, purge.
