Does anyone know if you can add WIFI capability to the Leica RX1250X controller?

I've been using it with a bluetooth connection for the last 7 years ans I'm looking to upgrade.

Anyone one have any success with something like this?

TIA

Radar.

Unfortunately the RX1250 did no have any physical WiFi device built into it. The port on the bottom of the collector could be used but would be a science project. The only real options that do not include Bluetooth woul be to use one of the older GFU communication devices offered with the RX1250. You would need the GHT56 mounting bracket which allows the COM device and a battry to be attached. The GSM GFU was the MC75 model - Art. No. 750242 GFU24, Housing with Siemens MC75 GSM/GPRS Module (Quad-Band GSM 850/900/1800/1900

This with a SIM card with a data plan would give you a cellular internet connection. I am not sure if these are still easy to find.

Thanks Mark, that's what I was afraid of.

I did a search and found a thread started by Jim Frame that was along the same line.

I looked at getting a Verizon MiFi; it will run up to 12 hours continuous, on up to 10 devises. That's a good deal for 50 bucks a month.

I wonder if there is a way to make the MiFi bluetooth?

Is the current Leica gear WiFi capable?

Radar,

Yes the current gear is Wifi compatible if you purchase the CS controller with the built-in GSM modem. There are two models of the CS15... both have BT but the one with the built-in GSM modem is the only model with the WiFi.

I am not sure about the BT to the Verzion device. If it has BT it should be possible. We are all GSM down here and I do not have much experience with the Sprint CDMA products.
