I have an 8(ish) year old TDS Ranger that the touch screen has become unresponsive. I noticed one of the small lights on the top of the unit, near the TDS Logo, is now lighting up. I have not seen this before. It was used for about half a day in the rain last week, though we have done that before without issue.
Anyone deal with this before? Thanks in advance.

Did you try to reboot it?
Had a similar issue last week with my TSC3 which I did my best to get water logged right after dropping it. Was convinced I'd finally succeeded in killing it. Turned out I had somehow inactivated the touch screen. With the TSC3, hitting 'Function' '.' reactivates the touch screen and she lives on.
My old TDS Ranger would do some rather strange things when the battery was in need of replacing.
Good luck.
Did a few soft reboots. Nothing. Guess I'll let it dry out another day or so and see what happens.

Can you try a hard reset?
could someone have mistakenly locked the screen? CTRL + upper left button
you might try cleaning around the edges of the screen. I've seen stuff get stuck around the edges and screw it up.
Tried the lock screen function. No go. Hard re-boot is my last resort. Will try tomorrow. Thanks for the input.

The digitizer is usually the culprit on these, it's the actual touch screen part that is glued on top of the LCD screen. I repair these things as a hobby for $200 parts included, but if you have some experience tinkering with electronics, ribbon cables, etc... then you could possibly do it yourself in 3-4 hours. You'd need a torx screw driver set (the thin type that can fit in the recessed screw holes), some Kapton electronics tape, copper foil shielding tape, low odor non-corrosive gasket maker (for the torx screws), and my preferred 99% isopropyl alcohol for cleaning the ribbon cable connections, oh and a new LCD screen with a pre-installed digitizer.
Can you send me your info? Thanks.

sure, just shoot me an email to datacollectorrepairs@gmail.com
If you got 8 years out of a Ranger without needing to replace the screen you are WAY ahead of the curve.
