Is this statement correct?
Stream cross sections are drawn from left to right, looking downstream.
That's correct if it's how your legend or section label says....
That's how I've always seen it and how I've done them. Stationing for streams begins with 0+00 upstream increasing as you go downstream, and the cross-sections move like you read, left to right. The banks are defined by looking downstream, left and right.?ÿ
I did six miles completely opposite. ?ÿLive and learn.
Just hold the drawings up to the Sun and look at them from the back.

Had to do that in 1987 with some architect drawings on a clock tower in a strip mall. ?ÿThey drew one tower and just noted that the other was a mirror image.
You should have seen how bowed out of place that steel was at thirty feet up!

I believe that FEMA cross sections begin at the confluence of the steams as 0+00 and increase as you go upstream.?ÿ At least that's the way I remember it.?ÿ It has been a while since I reviewed sections though.

@andy-bruner yeah, we were told to start stationing 0+00 at downstream confluence where the ditch meets the creek and run stationing upstream from there. ?ÿBut draw sections from the viewpoint perspective looking downstream. ?ÿThis last bit was counter-intuitive for me.
