When doing a cut and paste from one software to another, most software will go to where it last was in the program (window and cursor position) being pasted into. However, the behaviour of Star*Net is that it requires you to click in the window you want to paste into, which is an extra annoying step that is not consistent with most other programs. So if I am trying to paste a northing, then an easting, then an elevation, it is three extra steps.?ÿ
I tried asking them to "fix" this at least a year ago, but they have not done it.?ÿ
Does anyone else find this annoying??ÿ

I'm not having the same experience you are. I'm using v9. It returns to the cursor position I left it in. Just tried it to confirm. Nevertheless, if that is as bad as it gets for you, you are doing alright.?ÿ
?ÿ
So when you do alt-tab from one window to another window it goes right back??ÿ
I write a lot of programs, it is very easy to do what I am asking.?ÿ
I'm not using ALT-TAB to switch between windows. I simply have two windows open, one being StarNet, one on each monitor. Click in one, select and cut the item, click Starnet, paste it at the last cursor position.?ÿ
I see now that switching windows using ALT-TAB leaves me with no cursor, and I have to click at a spot to activate one. But that happens both in StarNet and in the data source Notepad window.?ÿ
I am an old timer, I use the keyboard much more than the mouse. I have three monitors, but I still use alt-tab to go between open windows.?ÿ
I set Wordpad as my .dat file editor and edit the .dat files externally. No issues like you are describing.

This is what I do, only I use Notepad++.?ÿ Much easier to block select and I find it does not "chug" as much as editing in Starnet itself.

I use Notepad++ for the data convertor, to take advantage of the line numbering.
Another Notepad++ aficionado here.
I'm still using an old Starplus version (v6.0) of Star*Net.?ÿ The only unusual cut/paste behavior I see is when copying text from a Star*Net window the application often (usually?) puts up an error message ("Clipboard error: 5 (5).") even though it correctly copies the text to the clipboard.?ÿ I just ignore the message.
