Hello everyone,

Thanks to this forum, I was finally able to add a .pgp file for alias/quick keys in my 2013 Carlson at my new job. I have ran into one snag... overwriting what I am guessing are predefined keys. When I add a new one, for example, CIR for *CIRCLE, it works great. But when I try to change one, like C to *COPY (since I rarely use circles and use copy all the time, I prefer C to be *COPY), it does not change in cad - it still creates a circle. When I open the surv.pgp file, afterwards, the C is still set to *COPY but just doesn't work. I am guessing there is another file somewhere that overrides this file.

Any suggestions would be awesome.

Thanks guys.

I'm assuming this is ICAD, since I don't have those with the ACAD version - just the pgp.

I'm trying to remember, but I don't think that you can change certain Quick-keys, maybe some of them, but not all.

Carlson honors custom commands in the quick keys (.qks) file over the .pgp file. Make your changes there.

I would agree with this...however, the Embedded version does not have a .qks file to access. This is why I had to use a .pgp file just to create some basic commands. There might be a hidden .qks file somewhere or maybe it pulls it offline.

Is it possible to do this in Carlson Survey Embedded 2016? I can't seem to find any .pgp file.

Attached is a copy of an old thread and a .pgp file (changed to txt for uploading) that I referenced/used to replace all the commands stripped out of my 2013 OEM.

Attached files

Instructions - Surveyor Connect Article.pdf (371.8 KB)  surv.txt (3.8 KB)

🙂 This is the exact thread I referred to to set up my .PGP. Good stuff. However, it will not override some "inner" quick keys and that is what I am trying to overcome. Basically, I want to make "C" be Copy. Plain and simple.

If the aforementioned SURV.PGP approach doesn't work, I'd suspect there are some hard-wired command short-cuts that can't be overcome (perhaps some of the mysteries of the Autodesk ADN/AutoCAD OEM engine license agreement). I was, however, able to get CC established for COPY using the SURV.PGP approach:

CC, *COPY

This I was able to as well. I'm just trying to make C, *COPY as C has been my copy for 10 years or more of CAD. Hard habit to break. For me, as mentioned, C has no place for Circle in my CAD Life.

Well, I went ahead and emailed Carlson's support group asking if they knew of a solution to this. If and when I hear from them I will share with all of you. Thanks everyone.

Hey guys,

I heard back from Carlson very quickly. Below is their response. It looks like there is no way to override any of the preset command Carlson has. The link in the email confirms this and it also has some useful tips.
===========================================================

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the email. Quick Keys is something that Autodesk removed from the Acad OEM engine prior to us getting it. However, some of our users have found a workaround to this per the discussion group link below. Feel free to check it out but remember this isn't a supported function:
