Two weeks ago lightning struck and took out the wireless network controller, 3 video cards, 3 RJ45 lan cards, three monitors, Brother MFC 6490CW printer and a TV and HDMI controller.

So I have some toasted dell monitor parts and printer parts

Upgraded to 300mbs wireless cards and installed 3.0 usb cards for external drive backups

The upgrade for the printer is the Brother MFC J6710DW that comes with an APP

called Printi&Scan that makes it much easier to print those courthouse scans and on the hood scans of your sketch and notes and what you don't want to carry into the field and/or get that rare copy of a pocket deed or other document that you know you will never have a chance to see again.

It syncs to CamScan, gMail, Web Page, photos and will print and control the scanner on the multi function printer from the phone

B-)

Is that Iprint & Scan? I like my MFC J6710DW. Sorry to hear about the lightning strike. It makes me think again that I'd better get that Uninterruptible Power Supply unit I keep putting off. :-/

Get a LG scanner mouse. Scans and patches the document together right on the spot.
If the drawing is over letter size, patch the individual scans using Microsoft Ice -- great for oversized plats.

I had no protection for the cat5 cables and HDMI cables and that is where the damage came from

Everything else was connected to APC battery backup uninterrupted power sources, they are worth every cent. The batteries last about 48mos.

No more cat5 cables to my computers, the TP-Link wireless cards are great

Looking into options for HDMI cabling protection

Iprint & Scan is great

Today I learned about the two sided printing option
