I have created GSI->FBK and a GSI->DAT converters for GSI files from the Leica 1100 series instruments. A rw5 converter could be added to the list if there is interest. Still very early versions and I need to do some more testing, which I need some help with. If you have a Leica 1100 series that you download data from in the GSI format, AND you are interested in converting that data to a more useful format, then please email me, including a few sample GSI files from your instrument.
I have never worked with the 1100 series myself, so I am a little unsure of the GSI export options that the instrument has. I have a suspicion that in order for the converter to function to optimal potential, it might be required to have specific blocks of GSI data exported. If you could also include some information on the GSI block settings you have configured, that would be helpful.
Any help would be appreciated, the resulting program will be made available free of charge to anyone interested.

Which type of .DAT file are you talking about?
DAT = Star*Net formatted observation file
FBK = Autodesk fieldbook format
RW5 = TDS, Micorsurvey, Carlson observation file
