I was under the impression that you could not use a Leica TS16 with a Carlson Collector because they did not sell the GeoCOM license for that instrument. But someone told me that Leica changed that a few months ago. Can someone confirm (my dealer is not getting back to me...)?

I talked to our Carlson rep a couple of months ago and at that time Carlson did not support the TS16.

It has a Geocom licence but what you need I think is the "Extended GeoCOM licence". I wasn't aware this was a problem but have not needed it myself

The http://www.carlsonsw.com/products/data-collection/survce/#hardware&apos ;">Supported Hardware tab on the SurvCE product page currently indicates:

  • TS16 is not supported by versions 5.x and earlier of SurvCE, and,
  • TS15 is supported by SurvCE versions 4 and 5 but "requires CS15"

I hope this information helps.

Just talked to my Leica dealer and to another Leica dealer who said that the GeoCOM license now works with the TS16 and they have both sold a few TS16 instruments with Carlson Surveyor 2's recently.
