Do they really need to update so often or do they just want another opportunity to put trash on our computers?

They need to update to prevent hacking and security threats. It is a pain though.

For some reason Java and Adobe are not on the same page.
When one makes an update it cause the other to make some change.
We are stuck with Java because it is required for windows.
Problem is that they are a third party and not privy to windows secrets.
As a third party and less funded with those secrets, they are targeted as an entry point by hackers to get into windows based computers.
