Has anybody tried using an iPhone 6 as a wireless internet connection for their RTN rover yet?
Specifically... I am curious if the iPhone 6 is able to communicate with Windows Mobile devices (in my case a TDS Ranger running Survey Pro) via bluetooth?
My brother in law (IT guy) said that he read information that said it was possible.
Any real life experiences out there yet?
Works fine iphone just has to have personal hot spot on then works like any other wi fi.
What about connecting via Bluetooth instead of wifi?
My wife has an Iphone, but I've never been able to get my Ranger to connect to it, and I've tried repeatedly.
Here's a thread I started about ...

I have tried the bluetooth connection with my iPhone 4s, no success.
I haven't tried using it as a mobile hotspot yet. I plan on setting my iPhone 4s as a mobile hotspot and then connecting to the Ranger by USB.
I am eligible for a phone upgrade. That is why I was asking about the 6.
If I have any success I will share it here.
Yeah, if you get it working let me know what you did. I'd be very interested in hearing.
I have been told that those Ranger USB ports will not support communication to another device, they are just for the transfer of data. I know that sounds like the same thing but people who should know (Hayes Instrument) have said so. I only know enough to be dangerous so I could have misinterpreted something along the way.
Good luck,
Dave.

No experience with the 6 but have been able to use the 5s with no problems. Can use either BT or wifi with the personal hotspot feature.
Recently "upgraded" to iPhone 6 at Christmas. Haven't been able to get fixed on network RTK since. Spent the weekend troubleshooting and confirmed the weak link is the iPhone6 connection. I am able to get a network Fixed through my office WiFi, and on my Verizon iPad, and on other's iPhone 5 hotspots. But when I switch to my iPhone 6+, the signal latency times-out and I cannot get fixed. Problem seems independent of the RTK network. Seems like a Survey Pro programming problem.
Here is my setup if it interests anyone: Survey Pro 5.5 running on Ranger 3, Windows Mobile 6.5, Topcon Hyper Lite+ and/or SP80 receivers.
I may have to break down and just purchase a dedicated MiFi device with a separate data plan, but was hoping to avoid the additional monthly expense for such sporadic use.
Has anyone had similar issues?
