I read this this morning and will be saving it for reference... I do use Windows often so I am not the person to ask if you need help.

Interesting stuff...

I'm about to plunge head on into a windows 8 box...

New to me... Dell xps studio 7100, 8gig memory, 1 gig graphics.

Old to me... Dell 8300 P4 2 gig ram, 1 meg graphics.

Now the fun, Old Dell fully licensed windows (32bit) XP pro, with Office

New Dell, Originally had just Win 7 (64 bit I believe) upgraded to Win 8 by
previous owner.

Going to try "Windows easy transfer" with the special cable (yes, SPECIAL).

This should be fertile ground for about 3 months of howling and barking to
get it to work correctly..

😉

Easy transfer is pretty slick. I just tried it out and got most of my stuff. Nice thing is it tells you what other programs you are missing.
