Hey kids, I have hopes someone here has encountered this issue before.

I brought in a couple drawings that the previous occupant of this seat drew and made into blocks. Likely done in an earlier version of ACad LT as well. Edit: I am using AutoCAD Light, so do not have all those fancy commands and macros everybody else here is likely to have! Please, as basic as possible.

Anyway, I am unable to explode the blocks for some reason. An internet search hasn't provided (useful to me) answers yet.

Anybody know the answer?

Thanks in advance!

Are they on locked layers?

Minsert is a way to create a block that can't be exploded and is useful for making it difficult (but not impossible) to explode and edit a block. I don't know if it's available in AutoCAD LT though. What does it say when you list it's properties?

I copied the drawings into my drawing. I can check the original to see if it is on a locked layer.

When I look at the properties for the drawing, I see the info about "general", Plot style, view (x/y/height/width) and misc (annotation, usc info).

Nothing jumps out at me on the properties.

Odd. Seems like I did something when I blocked them. No idea what. I seem to be back in business.

Are X Y and Z scales all the same? Far as I know the must be to be able to explode.

All the scales were the same. I had blocked the drawing to enable moving it around without losing a line segment or 3. I hadn't gotten to scaling any axis of the drawing.

I have had problems editing existing drawings when I double click on the drawing file to open in Carlson or Autocad Map R2 (whichever one is set as default).

When I open Carlson or Autocad Map R2 and select to open a drawing and a selection box opens so I can choose a file to open, all my editing commands will work properly.

That is just how it does and I really don't know why......:-S

When I first installed Carlson with Intellicad, I too also had problems by double clicking the drawing file. Carlson would start in the trial version mode, but if I opened Carlson and selected the drawing it would open correctly. Since I upgraded to Carlson 2016, I do not have that problem anymore.

I have not used a autocad light in a while but going on a hunch.

There is a property that can be applied to blocks making them explodable or not.

Go into the block editor and change the property?
