I will be starting a construction layout project on Wednesday. The engineer is a company that IO used to work for, and am currently in the process of working on a few surveys for them as a subcontractor.
I am pretty sure that they are using Civil 3D. I am using Carlson 2008 with embedded Autocad. What is the best way for them to "export" the Civil3D entities to something that does not show up as the infamous squares with the dreaded AECC entity label?
Thanks in advance,
Jimmy
Land XML has always worked well for me
For starters ask them to export as dwg rather than saveas, that should eliminate the dreaded "boxes".
Download the latest object enablers.
I would ask them to AecExportToAutoCAD2007 (that's the actual command) as well as export the project in LandXML as mentioned. Between them you should be able to extract everything you need.
I see it everyday. You will need them to open the original, type PROXYGRAPHICS, set it to 1, then export to whatever year you need.
