OK... who has installed this? I'm trying to get away from AutoCRAP. Quit buying their higha$$ subscription in 2010. Now trying to use Carlson Survey 2015 with IntelliCAD. I like the program so far but I am having issues. Carlson is looking it over but I thought I would throw it out here to see if maybe some of you guru's had an idea. I get multiple crashes a day. I've think I've pinpointed to the zooming/panning with the mouse. I've updated video drivers. Cleaned, scrubbed and polished the computer with CCCleaner, Malwarebytes and Spybot. Restarted the computer multiple of times. Uninstalled and re-installed with Antivirus turned off. I'm at my wits end on this. Suggestions?

P.S. Carlson has been wonderful in trying to resolve this but no solution yet.

Take a look at your layer names and style names. You should make certain that those names do not contain a space or other "odd" character. A dash - and underscore _ are ok. A space is not ok. You can't have most symbols in the name. Things like ! or ? and * plus & will all get you in trouble. Avoid any character from the top row of your keyboard other than the dash or underscore.

This might help, or it might not. But it is worth a try.

No... I don't think it is layers or styles. I will check in the morning. Layers can't have spaces? That is odd. Never had issues with that before. I never put symbols.

In the early days of ICAD trying to create a layer name with a space would cause an instant crash. As versions advanced they took care of the instant crash which in many ways is a bad thing. Now, ICAD and sometimes ACAD will wait awhile and then crash because of the space.

My rule of thumb is to never, ever use a space in a layer name. I do often use a dash or an underscore to keep the names logical. Water_valve is much easier to read than Watervalve.

I have been using Carlson 14 with ICad v-7.2 I have had a few issues and I have a long list of suggestions to make it more streamlined, but have had few crashes thank goodness. I haven't tried the 2015 with Icad version 8 yet. I will probably request a demo copy today and try it out. I went ahead and bought Carlson with Icad because I felt in the long run...way cheaper...better service and it was worth investing in.

It really sounds like a software to hardware compatibility issue. I can only assume you are running Windows 7 or newer with the a$$ to handle cad so that shouldn't be the problem...still though it sounds like it could be a hardware issue also. Good luck.

I've never been happy with IntelliCad. It has been a monster too many times for me.
I also run BricsCad so can make comparisons.
I have read that Video Cards can be a big influence in the performance of Cad and have wondered but never taken it further as I'm not really wanting to change cards just now.
Often the driver gets a mention in Help suggestions, but I've never had anyone suggest a card as the issue when lodging support tickets.

Has anyone tested or is there a list of cards used by real users of Intellicad?
it would be an interesting excercise.
Here's a comment from this post
I am trying to determine a suitable spec for a desktop/workstation pc upgrade, and i also find the BricsCAD graphics requirements confusing.
For good graphics performance and OpenGL capability on BricsCAD, legacy AutoCAD, structural analysis, Photomodeler etc we need a separate graphics card.

The Redway list is fairly complete and includes most higher graphics cards.

However, the BricsCAD list only includes
- Nvidia GeForce cards which are not good on OpenGL and which do not have ECC memory. Nvidia Quadro etc are not mentioned.
- ATX cards which have historically had weaknesses with CAD applications.
- The rather old Intel GMA 4000 series that was replaced by the HD series in 2010. The GMA series only support very old versions of OpenGL.

Maybe the BricsCAD list is out of date.
Has anyone had recent experience of Nvidia Quadro 2000 or 4000 on BricsCAD ?
We do lots of 3D modelling with basic shading, mostly engineering structures, but we seldom use rendering.

I may have to look at this more seriously as Microsurvey/ IntelliCad is not a very pleasant experience and yet I know Microsurvey/ ACad is oh so nice.
I gather others comment for Carlson which to me suggests its not a card issue.
But video cards and computer stuff is not my thing.

Well... even though the issue hasn't been fixed, the culprit has been located. I like to keep my properties window open so I can change stuff on the fly and see also length, bearing, etc, etc. ICAD techs told me to close this window and try again. I did and the crashes went away. Worst part is I have to turn on and off the properties window. They gave me a patch, but that didn't seem to work. Not sure if this just on my machine or has to do with who knows what, but I thought I would give a report so that if anyone else was having issues they could try my solution.

Ugh. Good news, bad news.
