I did this and everything came in and looks nice.?ÿ But the points are just mtext.?ÿ Is there a way to convert the points to Carlson, or at least a txt file that I can then bring into my dwg?

Is that for the embedded ACAD or ICAD??ÿ Or both?

Also, does it read the points?

No, Microstation does NOT write any data links to the points. You need the operator in Microstation to send you a text file that can import into Carlson.

Thanks

So basically, you can't read the points, but the benefit is that you can do the drafting in Carlson and save the deliverable to a dgn.?ÿ

You just can't talk back and forth with the points.

While I am a Carlson Reseller, please let me give you this little piece of advice that I have learned over the last 50 yars as a Cadmonkey: NEVER, NEVER buy the initial release of any software package. Unless you just get off on being a Beta tester.

That is correct. Microstation is only a CAD engine or the media in which you draw on to.

?ÿInRoads is the cogo app that runs on top of Mstation, much like Carlson runs on top of Acad or IntelliCAD. So without InRoads the points are only text in the cad file.

Try looking at the import Eagle Point Nodes routine in Carlson. That routine will search for the graphics that include a point node with associated text for PT number, description and elevation...

Actually, it is not ENTIRELY true that points do not reside in the DGN.

In the past, inroads or Geopak were the point handlers with planimetrics (no smart data) being in the DGN.?ÿ However now, if the dgn was an openroads file, it is native dgn and all in the dgn.?ÿ Much like Acad through LDD points were separate but C3D put in the dwg.

I just tested out one DGN file and I did extract points from it. Can you send me the file?

How did you extract them, using Carlson or something else?

JPH,

This is what I did....keep in mind I only have one dgn file for this test that clearly had points in it.

In the command line type DGNio, navigate the dialog box converting it to dwg. Open the dwg. In my case the point numbers and descriptions were in a block. I exploded the block. Type?ÿcfuupdatecrd in the command line, name your crd file and select all. ?ÿ

If you have problems I can test your file out on my end.?ÿ

?ÿ

?ÿ
