We've been running CAD MAP 2006 since about 2006. I've been chatting with an Autodesk Reseller about upgrading and he told me of this program where I can buy a seat of 2014 and trade in two pre-2008 licenses for a second seat of 2014.

Seems like a good deal to get up to date, but I am hesitant to get up to date if they offer this program often enough. Does anybody know if this is a rare offer or how often this comes around?

I have used Map 2006 and we only use this for exporting to shapefiles. I am not sure what improvements are in the latest version but why lose 2 seats for 1 new version?
What are you using your Map for?

We have 4 desks running Map with Carlson. Our other three desks are running Carlson Standalone 2008, 2013 and 2014.

I would hate to wait a few years and not see a similar offer.

Autodesk announced some changes to their licensing and upgrade policies back in October. If I understand them correctly by this time next year you will no longer have the option to trade in or pay a discounted price to upgrade your current software.
