I am trying to get more in depth with Civil 3d. I have been looking at some websites that teach autolisp, but none are too great.

What resources do you use? should i just get a Lisp programming book and go from there?

Would it be better instead to look into the other languages that autocad uses such as VBA or ObjectARX?

The Managed .NET API is fairly productive and fast. You can choose VB or C#, both compile to the same DLL. They are typically thin wrappers around the underlying ARX. While the Civil3D API has some holes big enough to bury a needed function in, there is still a lot exposed.

Having done a lot of AutoLISP and VBA I wouldn't go back.

This book is a good beginner level source. You ca ndo lots of things with LISP and it's not too hard to learn.

There's another website made for cad junkies. Go to theswamp.org and sign up. It's free. There are several lisp experts that can help you along and there are some tutorials posted there too. It's a very good site and covers most everything. Good bunch of folks that are very kind to new comers.
