Anyone using AI to make new LISP routines?

I asked ChatGPT what LISP routines it could make and it spit out a list of 30+ options. Wondering if anyone is using a routine that they made themselves with AI tools?

All of these routines already exist in Civil3D.  Some have slightly different names and aren't necessarily easy to find.

Fair - I wonder how many routines will get rebuilt by folks just because they're buried in Civil3D menus or the naming isn't intuitive

We're not making lisp routines, we're having chatgpt and claude create full on programs nested within Civil3d.  Its quite amazing how easy it is once you navigate the initial setup and structure.  For example, my main AI person, created our own in house legal description writer and legal description mapping tool in a few hours and now it's ours.

@wa-id-surveyor That's pretty cool. I'm pretty optimistic about a future where everyone is building their own bespoke software solutions for their specific needs, can be tailored to have things come out exactly as you want them

Yes, we used it to create all sorts of custom control and staking reports as well and also use it to create macros in TBC for a variety of uses.  It's really slick and much better than my cryptic lisp routines i tried to create by hand back in the day for sure!

I've used it for modifying some AutoLISP functions, as well as generating g-code for some CNC machining projects.  It does require some handholding -- trust but verify! -- but all things considered it's an amazing tool.

I've been amazed by how well Claude can create efficient LISP routines for very complex concepts. Something that I probably would not have bothered trying to do manually on my own because the effort vs reward equation wasn't there. Enter AI, all of a sudden your crazy concept does not require 20 hours of research and then 20 more hours of programming and testing. If you know exactly what you want it to do for you and provide detailed prompts, 30 minutes often is enough to get it done.

I've ued it to refine old lisp routines, to rewrite a couple and one from scratch that saves me hours not only in the initial writing but every week drafting boundaries.

We have a proprietary in-house software package to deliver monitoring information to clients, and my understanding is our programming team uses Claude for the first draft of all their code writing.

Outside of the original lisp question: I have three agents I've been creating that are close to companywide roll out that will specifically be tailored for proposal intelligence and drafting, contract review, and general business strategy (both top and bottom-line planning)

@james-fleming nice, yes proposal drafting and reviewing docs are both areas where I think AI should be super helpful
