I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 and it appears that Active Sync is no longer supported by this operating system.

I currently use Carlson software but have always preferred Active Sync over their Xport software for data transfer to/from handheld to computer.

Assuming I am correct that Active Sync no longer works on Win 7, what are most folks using now?

Thanks,
Mack

Windows Mobile Device Center is the replacement in Win 7. I can't remember the specifics of getting it set-up but if you search the forum for Window Mobile Device Center I bet you'll find some posts that will help.

It's now called MicroSoft Mobile Device Center. You can download for free. Works just like activesync.

WMDC 6.1 does work with Windows 7

When you follow the link provided above by surv8r and follow one of the download links you will encounter the Microsoft-provided warning -

"The Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 is only supported on Windows Vista."

You can disregard that; WMDC 6.1 works fine with Windows 7. I downloaded and installed it today on a new Windows 7 computer.

One would think that now 4.5 years since the release of Windows 7 Microsoft would correct that bogus information on the WMDC download pages. Oh, well. A big part of avoiding disappointment is not expecting too much.

Probably an indication of how few ever use WMDC?
