So.....here am picking hitch hikers off my clothes. I've been at it for about 45 minutes now and have about another 45 minutes to go. I got into a big bad field of the things and I may have to use a machete to scape them off. But it got me to thinking...why did god make these darned things?
Why did he make briars and vines and gnats and skeeters, and kudzu and horseflies and privet. Do you believe they sell privet as an darned ornamental shrub in some of the garden stores around here? People pay money to buy that crap and plant it as an ornamental. they should be horse whipped. Why did god make things that make our life miserable? Does he hate surveyors? I think he does!
I have talked to god every day and asked these questions without an answer.
Maybe god is a woman and this is her master plan! Maybe she doesn't like surveyors.
When I was a kid I always wondered why there were those disgusting flies.
Then someone explained to me that without them we would be knee deep in dinosaur crap.
Everything has a purpose, not all of which are made to make us comfortable or happy.
I read somewhere that "God made honey bees, but the Devil surely create wasps". 😉
I look at this way. If I lived in Eden and all was peaches and cream, sugar and spice and all things nice, before long I would take it all for granted and come to delude myself into thinking that I was responsible for making it so.
Kind of like the resistance of gravity, without it we'd have evolved into a jellyfish.
God in his wisdom made the fly
And then forgot to tell us why.
Ogden Nash
He made kudzu to feed goats. I wish I had 5 acres of that stuff.
If it was easy, anybody could do it.
It keeps realtors in their air conditioned cars...

I have thought for a good long time that God is a woman and she hates surveyors and since I have a unique skillset that I can piss off any woman in 10 minutes or less she is using her much larger skillset to punish me.
Just A, now there is a marketable talent! ;l
(right with the book, "how to be sweet" by KM)

Nate, It is an incredible talent and my long suffering wife has hit me many times with what she has lying nearby many times. You'd think I would learn but apparently not.
What is this "how to be sweet" crap by KM?

I take my physical affection how ever she delivers it.

Amen!
Why did god make these things
Apparently to piss you off. 😎
Wasps - why, they serve no purpose.

I thought some kill flies.
Genesis 3 : 17-20. Hope it helps explain why, but it will do little to help with your opinion of women. LOL

My opinion of women?
I love women...well most of them anyway....but I do have a rare skill that for some reason tends to piss them off quickly.
You talking about beggarticks???
I have heard of many varieties referred to as hitchhikers. When I was in the Midwest they were a great find in flooded areas during Fall cause ducks loved to eat them. It was productive hunting. They happen to be of high food/nutrient value. Down here in FL we have Spanish needles which are one type but another kind grows well in sections of my yard and they stick to clothing in an aggravating way but have a nice little seed inside that I like to eat. Remind me of fresh picked green peas or soybeans.
I am nursing a poison ivy rash currently along with a dozen or so Fire Ant bites so I can relate to the general frustration towards crud that pesters the humble, hard-working surveyor...
Yes beggar ticks, beggar lice, hitch hikers, all the same aggravating darned things. I have occassionally ran into the Spanish needles around here but not often. Of course all manner of poison ivy and oak and sumac.
God hates surveyors.
Or, He could be shepherding the shepard away from real danger.
