I haven't heard from that fella in several years, anybody else?
He had some strange posts when he didn't take his medication.
btw, he wasn't even close.

I wasn't ever really sure where he was when he was posting. You might say he rambled considerably. He's on a long list of usetobe's that have frequented this board or it's predecessors in years past. I would really like to see some of them reappear, including Sam Clemons. Nice people like Don Bormann and Chris Wickern from the wilds of Missouri, for example. Mr. De-Rail Paulk and his office buddy, Michael in Lawton, OK. Jim Petty, the sous chef of road-runned-over cuisine in Arkysaw. Scott Collins from the Gulf region. Gene Kooper from the Rocky Mountain high land of Colorado. Paul Cook in Santa Barbara, CA. Even the military-connected surveyor from French Lick and Fort Knox (Gordon something). And many others.

I thought NN was from the Left Coast, why I don't know.

And I also have a recollection that he was terminally ill and has passed on.

Once again, why I think that, I can't say.

But Nearly would certainly take glee from my confusion...and then turn on me with disgust. I miss him like I miss my ex-wife....

He's from Northern California.

He worked on a crew with Jim Frame in the 1970s or 80s or something like that.

Mid 1980s. Last I heard -- and it's been some years -- I think he was in Fort Jones, CA.

I don't think NN was ever on this board but on the old one. Maybe you can give a holler for him over there at the other place.:-| He was from North Cali and had worked with Jim Frame many years ago as young surveyors and I think that Tim M. claimed to be in touch with him somehow.
He posted late since he was a left coaster and sometimes it would seem that his postings were disconnected to other posts . That was when the board was "wide open" with no categories for any insult and ensuing dialogue on any topic. He may have been into some North Cali product, who knows?
Others pushed his buttons and he would push back harder in response and push buttons of his won..
Some didn't have a problem with him but others did because he was different. He wasn't vanilla for sure but added to the spectrum of posters. No one has come close to him in character and he did say he was "Nearly Informal" for what it was worth to readers.

He stated that he had a life, wife and kids etc

There are less and less old posters from the RPLScom days and that is good, IMO. Change(delta) is a constant.

An odd duck; he was obviously well read in Sufism and would paraphrase a lot of R?m?, but by lashing out at everyone he never seemed to take the teachings to heart. Having th medicine at hand is of no use if you don't take it.

Anybody remember Beth?

NN wasn't involved in the melee, but somewhere I have a copy of one of the best "poor taste" posts from the old POB board. Nabbed it just before they yanked it.

One of the member's (who still posts here occasionally) ex-wife, Beth, climbed aboard late one night and started spewing hate with a flame-thrower. It was vile and vicious diatribe. She accused him of everything from pedophilia to cross-dressing! It went on for hours before somebody in charge deleted the post and pushed the "ban" button. Classic dirty laundry at its finest.

Anybody remember Beth? o.O

"Anybody remember Beth?"

Yep, I remember Beth. I remember who put her up to it and I don't think it was Nearly Normal.

I believe NN was posting under the name of N Nemo over on the other site as late as 2010. I was under the same belief as Paden, that NN (aka Dan Wallace, I seem to recall) had passed away.

According to the state records, his license is still active and he's now in Montague, CA.

I thought of him more of a "Trickster" persona. Sufism must be loaded with trickster types..I would think.

Anybody remember Beth?

As I recall, it was Kent that egging her on, or at least he was noticeably amused by the exchange.
