I'll take that! It's relative.

The problem we're having with the early extended cold is the frost going deep and fast. The other issue for a solo guy like me is safety. Slipping on ice and hitting your head means lights out.

Slipping on ice

just bought these and used them on a 10 mile winter hike above treeline. I highly recommend them easy to put on and very durable.

5 degrees here on the hill and minus 5 in the valley! bring it on! my firewood sales are suddenly spiking.

In the mid 1950's my father was transferred to Meridian Mississippi to manage a textile plant. I went to first and second grade in Meridian. We lived near the grade school and I remember walking to school in the mornings in the winter all bundled up in a heavy coat. At lunch time I'd walk home dragging the coat behind me.

The Kahtoolas rock. I use them all the time and I think they are the best I've ever strapped on my feet. Just don't walk on momma's hardwood floors with them. :pinch:

Slipping on ice

Has anyone tried them in the woods? The website says they good for "on the trail".

That happens here quite often. Many days I run the heater in the truck in the A.M. and the AC in the P.M. We have many days with a 50° temp spread. Layering usually works.

I have creepers, but those look like mine on steroids.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I used mine on the woods too, but only because I was too lazy to take them off.

(Usually, creepers are not necessary in the woods as the snow is not all packed down and turned to ice.)
