Here is my new business card. Finally have an address though I still don't have my office in place yet.

Will be working on website and brochure update next.

How simple or complex is your business card.

I'm going to put something on the back to make people want to keep the card

I thought about a calendar but you can look at a calendar these days on pretty much any electronic product. So that's a no go at this station.

I want surveyors measurements or State facts such as state tree, bird, and such

Any suggestions on the back?

I want people to want to pick up the card because it catches their eye as I will have them in courthouses, realty offices and law offices. I don't want them to see all the detail at once but to notice different things to keep them looking at it.

Hopefully they can see the Mountaineer in the rock face, Me on the cliff and the flag and eagle and the north arrow with north star and Ursa Minor and the state seal.

I would pick that up, and keep it, at least for a while, because it's fun to look at.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen so much going on on a business card. At first blush, I'd lose that 'all seeing' eye. Not only does it look a little creepy and out of place, but it also has a kind of 'angry' thing goin on. But, that could just be me. Otherwise, it tells one all they need to know about your business.

Thanks for letting us see it, and take care.
Ed

Too much going on for my taste IMO, either as a peer or as a client.

Wow, but IMO really really busy. Perhaps leave the background white, or a pale blue and put the eagle image on the back in a very pale fashion so you can still see it, but not so prominant. Then people could write things on it with a pencil.

Just my opinion that all business cards should be able to be written on. Thus I'm not really partial to shiney high tech cards you can't write on.

Still though, awesome layout and a terrific message. Best of all to your ideas

I would suggest a QR code that when scanned with a smartphone will prompt them to add you to their contacts. If they know what a QR Code then it is just too tempting to want to know what it says.

John,

It is all about where you practice.

As some have said above the card is busy.

Where I practice a card like yours is something the pubic would see from a plumber not a professional.

I want a business card that compliments my plats. I don't feel my card is unprofessional but I've been wrong once or twice.

Here is a sample plat.

I generally will use different designs, for example this is a plat designed to be folded. Others are a little different and are to be rolled up. It depends on the County some counties have plat books that can handle full size plats others do not and can only handle folded plats.

Good, but a little busy.

That would be a great for a post card. It's going to lose a lot of it's effect at business card size. The state seal, for example, won't be much more than a yellow dot. The surveyor on top of the rock is going to look like a flyspeck on an irregular shaped pile of something dark brown. Zoom in on the surveyor more.

The eagles eye would be appropriate if you were a Licensed Private Investigator or an alarm system installer. Maybe not so much for survey services.

I suggest you give them just your office phone number and have Google Voice forward calls to the cell when needed. Or vice versa, if you prefer. Keep that part simple. Google Voice is a free service.

Also, take the fancy effects off the address, phone number, and email and make the font a little smaller. Then make your name and your business name bigger.

I'd probably drop the "Surveying the past" slogan from the business card, too. Keep it for the website.

John,

How many negligence attorneys have blood and gore on their business cards?

What does that have to do with anything? The most disgusting thing they could put on their cards is the scale of justice. We all know there is no justice done by ambulance chasers. 🙂

look at their ads on the internet. I personally haven't seen their business cards so I really don't know if there is blood and gore on them or not.

I was just about to ask how large does that have to be. I put one on the back of my business card but only in one corner. I do not have a reader so no way to check it.

Thanks for all of the suggestions and keep them coming if you have more.

I changed the front. It looked too wordy as some said and I like the pic so much I took out a lot of the words. Not my best idea but I couldn't mess up my pic.

For the back I'll use a couple different backs but this is one I am most likely going to use. I think it will make people want to keep the card.

I will also have some with blank backs to write on.

I just don't know how large the code has to be.
