The seller says in the listing that they checked with Trimble and it's not stolen, so... which one of you is right?
I asked the seller for the serial number. It is shown in the picture above if you would care to check for yourself to see if the unit is listed as stolen
If its activated can Trimble track it?
The cost of 8k is way under a fully enabled R980. However, I was told by a Trimble rep a few years ago that the cheap 980s are not enabled to do what I was expecting for those units. I don't know the ins and outs of the R12i and R980's but he said that inexpensive version wasn't the real thing.
@bstrand This Mexican guy out of Bakersfield was trying to sell me this receiver few bucks. That's how i have the serial number. I asked him where he got it and he made up this story that no one would ever believe. It may not be reported stolen right now, but it sometimes takes Trimble 6 months to update their system. The ebay sellers are so full of it, they listed this listing the following week so he must of sold it to them for few bucks. "We purchased it from an on-site auction of a telecommunications company that recently shut down." They are big liars.
Wait so you mean to tell me that if it’s not the latest and greatest it can’t be tracked? Also if my equipment is stolen will anyone be able to link it up to there DC and go or add there info n go? This is crazy if that is how it goes. There’s gotta be away you can lock it to prevent theft or maybe not since most company’s will just report it to there insurance and keep going but for the rest of us are we just up sh!t creek without a paddle? Ok my Friday rant is over until someone replies something crazy.
@mightymoe That's strange, because according to Trimble, the R12i could not be configured to have fewer features. It could only be sold with with full operating specs. The R8S and R780 are the configurable ones. We purchased a R780 without rover capabilities enabled for a substantial savings.
