Hello everyone!
Well Google led me here, I trolled around, then signed up. Lots of helpful info here.
I have almost 20 years in the surveying industry. Was at a family owned civil firm for 17 years. The last 9 of those years was managing their surveying department.
2 years ago I accepted an offer as "Project Surveyor" for a local electric cooperative. Tasked with ROW, construction, design, facilities, property acquisition, etc., etc., surveying.
I've been licensed for 11 years.
Welcome to the best water cooler in the world. Hang around and see what you can learn and what you can teach the rest of us. We get a bit cantankerous from time to time but I bet you've been lurking long enough to know that already.
How do you like the change of pace with the new gig?
You don't have to be crazy to post here, but it helps! Welcome aboard!

It was a bit slow at first but that has changed, tremendously.
The work hours are much better now... 7-5 Mon-Thur, 7-3:30 on Fri... but I'm off every other Friday. pretty sweet compared to what I was doing...

I recently quit as a survey project manager for a large regional civil firm and I am going to work for our DOT, doing cadastral and row work only. I'm excited for a break from construction staking, proposals, bidding, budgets and topo surveys.

As Monte said "You don't have to be crazy to post here, but it helps!"
All Surveyors are "crazy", who else would stand in the middle of an busy intersection with a vest and a prism pole? 😉
Sarcasm On////We don't need no stinkin' vests! Sumbitch smacks into me, I'll kick out his headlights and smash his grill before I crash through the windshield. That'll teach him.////Sarcasm Off

Nah you don??t have to resort to physical activity, just swing the rod around like you are at batting practice vehicles will realize you have just escaped from somewhere and avoid you at all costs. Just make sure the prism is on tight or it will fly off and usually hit a cop car. 😮
Good afternoon fron Santiago of Chile. Here is a cold day.
