Life is too complicated out in the real world to every put up with much haggling and time is not to be wasted.

With the advent of the internet at our disposal and especially with such a great Website to hang out in here at Beerleg with so many of our own, one has to expect to be hit with a zinger or two or three along with a substantial amount of doer right or don't doit at all thrown in.

When people continue to trade posts long after it should be clear to them (and everyone else) that due to differences in experience or knowledge or whatever that they will NEVER agree. o.O

On a related note, I don't understand the site's banning policy. Some recent discussions appear to me to include personal insults and pretty disparaging remarks. So why haven't the people involved been banned? Or at least warned to either knock it off or tone it down?

Wendell & Angel do not have the time to monitor the board 24/7 so some offensive posts may slip though the cracks. Also, the people may have been warned to "knock it off" by private message.

Things I hate

You summed it up pretty well Perry. I’d only add to it pseudonym haters who berate posters who don’t use their real names. Some folks want privacy, others may might lose a job if they air their opinions. I guess these same principled pseudonym haters have never read any of Mark Twain’s books because of his “cowardice” to not post as Samuel Clemens. (hmmm, I wonder where "our" Sam Clemons went?)

Thank you Perry. :-$

You are right, Wendell and Angel do NOT have time to monitor the board 24/7.

Especially with what has currently been going on in our lives. Since December, it has been a whirlwind of sick parents and us in hospitals taking care of parents. My mom almost died and was in and out of 3 hospitals over the holidays, then Wendell's mom got breast cancer and had surgery; and his "dad" (Step-dad but the dad that really raised him and who he considers his "real dad") has been fighting multiple myeloma for 2 ½ years. Now the cancer has taken its toll and his "dad" is in end stage kidney failure and is not going to live much longer. We've been watching him suffer daily now, and it is VERY heartbreaking for my husband and mother in law. :u:

Anyone that has been through this, knows what it does to you and your loved ones both physically, emotionally, and mentally. On top of all of this, I have also been helping one of my best friends elderly parents and 87 year old grandmother as much as I can with things that are hard for them to do that are easy for me to do. (Those of you that know me, know I am very passionate about handicapped and elderly folks, and especially sick handicapped elderly folks.)

I take joy in being able to do the things for ANY of these people that makes them smile and happy. Just the simplest thing of taking granddad out for ice cream on Saturday made him beam from ear to ear. (and since it was 91º out, it also got ice cream all over his beard! hehe B-) )

So, now you guys know why we have been scarce. Some of you know but not everyone did and we were pondering on when to say something, and after seeing this post, well, I felt like it was finally time. I still DO monitor several hours a day, but a lot of the time it is from my phone and I cant type 100 WPM on my phone so that's why you won't see me answer too much on here or on Facebook if I'm mobile. But don't worry, I haven't forgot about you guys at all...and I know I still owe some of you some thank you packages and cards for donations; I have it all written down in my Beerleg notebook and once I get some true free time, I will work on those. :-$

This is a family-run website that really doesn't make any money. Yeah, we get an occasional shot in the arm from an advertiser or some really nice folks that donate to help with expenses. But in the long run, we actually lose money. We hope that will change one day but for now, we are doing the best we can. So as you might imagine, we have to put focus on other things that help us maintain a reasonable income so we can pay our own bills.

Remember, we do have access to email and private messaging, so you may not be aware of conversations going on in the background. You only see the public side of it all.

In addition, we appreciate it when people point out posts that are offensive. Even if you think it "might" be offensive, we appreciate the heads-up so we can deal with it as we see fit. You are our eyes in many instances and we don't see it as "tattling" or whatever other childish term some people might want to call it. We consider it help and appreciate it more than you can imagine.

If I told you I was from Redbone I'm sure there aren't many who could ever figure it out. Georgia will just have to do:-P

Hi Angel,

I had heard a bit about the horrible things you've been having to deal with recently, but not the complete picture. My thoughts and hopes for better times are with you. My life's going on swimmingly in comparison (except for the 85-year-old father half way across the country who doesn't want to move from his home and is having more and more issues!). Keep on, keep on! 😀

Hi Wendell,

I have some acquaintances (midlist writers) who are often struggling to make ends meet so my sympathies are with you. I feel pretty strongly about supporting them and other who provide content for free with a tip jar if anyone feels inclined. I have been meaning to make a donation because I find the discussions here fascinating, even if only tangentially related to my job (usually).

As someone mentioned elsewhere (not specific to me, but I can't find it now; search fu is weak this morning), I know I react to what I perceive to be disparaging comments a lot quicker than most others on this board, so I just shake my head usually!

I'm sorry that I gave the impression that you and Angel are slacking off. I know you're not. I'm going to go crawl back into my hole now and go back to lurking!

> We are definitely an opinionated bunch. I'll almost bet a whole paycheck that other professions couldn't carry on an argument for two days about ice water...

On the old board and I think it was even RPLS B.C. (before categories), I tried to prove that point one weekend by posting a tongue in cheek post about the proper way to make a pb&j sandwich. There were some posters who took up the debate and with some very solid opinions. There was even one poster who took to making a very personal attack on me for initiating the debate. He could not just 'let it go' and not participate.
Anyway, I don't think anyone changed their ways in makinga pb&j sandwich.
