Yea, I know, it is a FB thing, but I think it would be nice here and would save thread space. I hope this hasn't been discussed before?

Reply and thumbs up is the like button!! 😉

Thanks! That's good, but it would be better if there was no need for the window to open. Not a biggie.
I remember it being discussed some time ago, and I think Wendell tried to make something work. I don't remember it completely, but I think there was a problem that made the whole site slow down.
I am not sure on the "whys" but I do remember a "like" button being discussed and the "thumbs up" was the final easy solution.

One of these days, I'd love to incorporate this kind of feature. I already tried adding a Facebook Like button to each post, but as adamsurveyor pointed out in this thread, it slowed everything down. I very much want to add a like feature here that is specific to us and not necessarily related to Facebook. But that would take some time for me to implement and time I do not have while clients are knocking on my door. It's a catch 22!
"Clients knocking on my door" fantastic!
I want my +1 internets!!!
Seriously though, you could institute a rep system instead of a like button, but then we all know what would happen when neg rep hits THIS site...
Flaming trolls leaping into pools of internet gasoline, then running rampant through P&R until nothing is left but the ashes of Wendell's Other Left Comic's ashes.
To "H" With The "Like button"
Let's all go back to primal grunts.
Like buttons are a godd sheeple tool. As far as I am concerned I don't need them.

To "H" With The "Like button"
"....primal grunts"
Paul, you are a nice guy and all, but... was that a Freudian slip?
(Maybe you need to have the wife take the sap out of you!)
(Hey, we need a HUMOR and a SARCASTIC font too!)

To "H" With The "Like button"
"Like" is a FB thing.
For us, we need a "Pile-On" and a "Bandwagon" button.
😉
"Pile On Button" Should Have Priority
Of course there would have to be a Red and a Blue button to differentiate which side we are piling on to.

Primal Grunts For Nate
Not a Freudian slip. I was referring to the caveman response before language was well articulated. I consider a "Like Button" the equivalent of a primal grunt. One wants to be heard but has nothing to add to the conversation.
However if a "Like Button" is approved then I would request more than a "Dislike Button" since certain replies might require a response in the form of a "Belch Button" or a "Fart Button".
In addition I find that the internet is very insensitive to certain nationalities. As an Italian I find it very hard to get all my manual gesticulations properly transmitted via the keyboard and/or mouse to the screen.
