I've used hipers for OPUS (just push a button and note HI...simple...sigh) and R8's. Most of my guys are capable of collecting an OPUS. We are using r10's and access on a TSC3. We were collecting data on a project today that we havn't been on for a couple years with existing control set before I started. I instructed my guys to set up on the control but run another OPUS just as a check. When they set up on the control point, instead of using the coordinates we already had, they informed me that, to collect the OPUS, a "here" coordinate had to be used instead. Which means that all the points collected will definitely have to be adjusted. Had they just set up on the control point in the DC, this would have been avoided. Anyway, the static file they collected had a "B" in it instead of "T02". Don't know what means till I get in the office in the morning. I remember using the R8's, it was possible to see that the static file was being collected in the head because it had a lock beside it. So, to cut to the chase, can you guys share some pointers on collecting an OPUS with this setup for my own satisfaction??

Also, at the end of the extended OPUS report, there is a point scale factor and combined scale factor. Is there a correlation between these and the combined scale factor to convert grid coordinates to a ground coordinate system?

I feel that you are a man in pain. I feel your pain.

They should have just set up the receiver as usually and just changed the Base Options from RTK to RTK & Logging and set the logging rate (I always recommend 1 second since you can truncate it to 5, 10, etc, etc. later) and set the logging device as Receiver. I've never seen "B" before.

I plugged the coordinates and elevation from an OPUS-S run into CORPSCON and it gave me the same SPC point scale and combined factor as OPUS down to a small difference in the eighth decimal place.

SDo yup, that's the ground to grid.

Wow lol I appreciate the compliment... unfortunately I don't have much to add to the conversation. I've never seen an extension on an R10 static file other than T02, and I download them frequently. As far as the coordinates, SurveyAK is on the mark - you can either preload or enter the correct coordinates in the field and then set up on the point with RTK & Logging the same way you would on any other RTK base; the only time you ever need a "Here" position is if you're running an RTK base on an unknown position.

The only thing to be aware of with an R10 submitting to OPUS is that NGS references the height to the bottom of the receiver, not the bottom of the quick release. The quick release is 0.05m, so if you're on a 2 meter fixed height your OPUS height is 2.05m.

Wow, quite the Trimble recommendation! We've got two R10s and were just looking at static sessions. And, this is a "new" process for our workgroup. Any chance I can toss a few ideas back and forth with you at some point.... I mean, I say GNSS to the guys here, and they look at me and say "Oh, you mean the GPS gear?" :bored:
