Getting near the end of day 2 of my tech support quagmire.
I have a Geomax Zenith 25 Pro that I have connected to my Carlson Surveyor+.
The Bluetooth connection between instrument and data collector is fine.
I installed the AT&T SIM card directly into the receiver and that is working.
Upgraded Carlson SurvCE to the current version.
For some reason I cannot gain access to my network. All my credentials are good with SmartNet. I logged into their site (SmartNet) and found a list of rover errors. It says access is being denied because no GPGGA message is being received by the network. Under explanation is states "All SmartNet RT Products require a NMEA GGA string to be sent by the rover user. The connection will be closed by SmartNet if no NMEA GGA string is received within 30 seconds of connection."
WTF?? It says right in Carlson that I am setup to send information from the rover. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I know it is a very specific problem....
We have. We have some Leica 1200 GPS that we like to use a Carlson Data Collector with. Every now and then something gets reset on our GPS or on the smartnet network. We have to use the Leica data collector, or paddle as Leica calls it to connect to the network. After we connect with the Leica paddle, then the Carlson data collector will connect to the network.
Not quite the same issue you are having but it might help you out.
Is Send rover position to network checked on the rtk tab?
Yes the send button was checked. We got it resolved. It was a different setting that everyone overlooked. Data type was set to "single base" and should have been "iMax" in this location. I definitely sense that this Carlson/Leica Network combo could get a little quirky.
In Viva, I know there is a spot where you have to toggle on the "NMEA" and "GGA" buttons specifically... I'm not sure on Carlson though.

In Carlson it was automatically on and greyed out. There was no way to disable it. That's what was so perplexing.
You'll feel better, when it starts working!

That's what she said....
Dan,
Which SurvCE Version are you running on your data controller?
In SurvCE, try the following...
Equip > GPS Rover > RTK > Device: Internal GSM
Equip > GPS Rover > RTK > Network > NTRIP > [Tools menu]
[Delete] the NTRIP Server Profile you had stored for SmartNet, then create a new" SmartNet"
Paying attention to the Port Number, the data controller will retrieve the NTRIP Source Table,
When you select the NTRIP Mount Point, the RTK product you selected will set the Flag automatically, [ö?] Send Rover Position to Network.
When selecting a Mount Point like "NearSite_ RTCMV3", or "NetCell_RTCMV3" the RTK Rover MUST continuously send $GPGGA message to the Network,
There are settings in the data controller software to send the $GPGGA message every 10-seconds, every 30-seconds, etc.
SurvCE > GPS Rover > Receiver > [Advanced] menu,
Data Collector NMEA out [Internal ] [Tools menu] GGA [10s]
If your NTRIP RTK Rover doesn't send the required $GPGGA message often enough, the RTK Network software WILL DISCONNECT the RTK Rover's data connection. Forcing the RTK Rover surveyor to Re-connect to the Caster, this Connect > Disconnect > Connect > Disconnect cycle continues, very frustrating...
Try selecting a Mount Point that doesn't require the RTK Rover to send the continous $GPGGA message to the Network Server. Like a Single Site RTK Base Station, like "NJIT" or similiar. See if the RTK Rover keeps the connection to the RTK Base station and the RTK Rover computes a Fixed RTK solution. If the Single Site RTK Base station stays connected and RTK Rover computes a RTK Fix, we can trouble shoot the Mount Point connection to "NearSite_ RTCMV3" or "NetCell_RTCMV3 in more detail.
I'm seeing a bug in SurvCE v4.06 that I've reported to the SurvCE Development Team in Maysville, KY
SurvCE > GPS Rover > Receiver > [Advanced] menu,
Data Collector NMEA out [Internal ] [Tools menu] GGA [10s]
The Bug I found + seeing, the NMEA out 10-seconds Internal buggers up the Bluetooth connection between the data controller and the RTK Rover equipment.
Hang in there Dan, we can sort this out,

Dan see my comments below...
The RTK User cannot manually change/select the [ö?] Send Rover Position to Network Flag. The selected Mount Pont in the NTRIP Source Table sets the [ö?] Send Rover to Network Flag. SurvCE may give the RTK Rover operator the illusion he/she is changing this Flag, but trust me, it doesn't.
It just happens to be a weird coincidence, I'll be in the Northern NJ/Metro NYC area on Monday Oct 26th, for some GNSS business if you'd like to rendezvous.

Didn't see your response until now, but I was down by AC international airport today anyway....not too close to NYC. I've been up and running since Friday. It was the wrong solution type that was selected. That's where the connection problem was coming from.
Dan,
Good to know your up and running again!
This forum is pretty darn good, post a problem, get an answer PDQ. As Technical Sales + Support person, I monitor this site daily, check the Recent posts with my morning coffee, jump in when + where, I think I can help.
