Hi All,
We have a HiperLite Plus base unit that we would like to use for taking a few long static observations. It has been used it as recently as last year as a RTK base with a radio link to our rover HiperLite, but not local logging. Apparently the firmware on it hasn't been updated in a while either, because the date on the converted tps files is October 2006 - same problem as ever, WNRO strikes again. I can update the dates manually, but that tends to be a real headache.

I've been digging through our archives to see if we have a copy of the firmware our rover is running which doesn't have the WNRO bug, version "3.5 Feb,01,2019 p5" but I can't find them anywhere. The rover was sent out for a replacement battery a few years ago, it may have been updated then. I've reached out to our topcon rep and emailed topcon support (hah) and haven't heard anything back yet.

Searching around on this forum, I found this post where someone had a similar request, but unfortunately the links all seem to be broken, the files may be gone? This is the post:

https://rpls.com/forums/strictly-surveying/topcon-hiper-lite-which-to-use-pc-cdu-or-tru/

Similarly... while I can use Topcon Link to convert the tps to rinex, the process is kind of clunky. tps2rin seems to be exactly what I want because I can use it in a script, but I can't find it anywhere either. It also has been posted on this forum, but the links aren't working either:

https://rpls.com/forums/gnss-geodesy/tps2rin /" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> https://rpls.com/forums/gnss-geodesy/tps2rin/

If anyone could help with any of this stuff, I'd greatly appreciate it! We do have two newer GNSS units but they're going to be tied up in the field for the next few weeks, for static shots this HiperLite Plus should be fine.

Thank you!

John

Well I was able to get a copy of 27-040001-12-hggdt_3_5p5_0.zip (thanks!) but unfortunately it is incompatible with our base unit. The board in the base unit is an HE_GGDL_3 - I'm not even finding references to this one searching around, so it's possible that it never even got a WNRO update.

Still hunting for the firmware, but @cf-67 helped me out with TPS2RIN, and also made a good suggestion regarding the fact that Sokkia and Topcon have a lot of overlap.

Sure enough, buried in the support pages for Sokkia's "Sokkia Receiver Utility" there is a link to download a fairly recent version of TPS2RIN.

https://us.sokkia.com/sokkia-care-products/sru-sokkia-receiver-utility

The forum won't allow me to attach a zip, but if anyone can't get it from the link above, reach out.

This is version 1.0.24.1481 from 2017, quite a bit newer than most of the references I've found, it supports through RINEX v3.03 as well as GPS/GLO/GAL/BEI/QZS/IRN SVs.

Topcon has an online tool to convert TPS to RINEX, you just need to make a free account to access it.

You can customize the output RINEX version among other things.

@DLJ thank you for pointing that out - it is a good option for folks doing one-off conversions. I found it to be a little bit clunky and slow, the standalone exe is very fast, and since it's a command line tool, it can easily be integrated into data management scripts. It's great that people have options for both! (... I just wish that topcon didn't hide tps2rin.exe so aggressively...)
