The price for these is insanely low. I'm seriously considering buying one to try out. I'd love to hear any first hand experiences with these.

great receivers. the company got a pair since last year. the built-in NTRIP modem is fantastic for an urban environment where radio signals can't get through the high rise buildings.

There was a discussion a few years ago about these receivers and not much feedback on long term use of them. I like the idea of using your Android or iphone as a collector to further save $$, even though I would prefer a dedicated data collector for that purchase. Interestingly, when I first checked on Carlson's website about support of Emlid they had them listed on the latest two versions of SurvCe. When I checked back 6 or so months ago it was removed from the list of supported hardware. Curious...

?ÿ

I believe the difficulty was in setting them up w/ a radio instead of NTRIP using SurvCE and getting full access to the constellations.?ÿ Seems relatively easy to set one up as a rover.

@jaccen Thanks, I thought maybe I was losing it about seeing it supported and subsequently dropped. I imagine they will also work as a static OPUS receiver, as they mention in the adverts.

I have a RS2 with Fieldgenuis Android loaded on a Cedar 8 tablet. Run it every work day for the last 6 months at the job using my local Oregon Ntrip. Collect asbuilt shots of underground utilities being installed.. So far has been OK, but I baby it from falls and standard abuses. Not to sure if it will be as tough as my old Trimble 5800 that has hit the ground probably 50 times since 2004... construction guys...

I tested the RS2 with fieldgenius loaded on a TRIMBLE JUNO 3C. It runs very well using the California Real Time Network Ntrip. Also, I tested the Emlid M2 as a rover and as a base with the same software and data collector, same results. Now I've installed a CORS base for my use using an EMLID M2 and the Emlid NTRIP CASTER that EMLID provided for free. Using this caster the fixed solutions are almost automatic. Also, I tested doing some static observations and processed the rinex files using Trimble Survey Office with good results. Now I'm using only M2's (more cheaper than a RS2) as a base and rover.

As someone who's considering going solo, this is an intriguing hardware setup for such an outrageously low price.?ÿ However, I wonder how it works with an external base radio.?ÿ The spec sheet says it has a 0.1 watt internal radio, but a range of up 8 km.?ÿ How is that possible, without setting your base unit at ionosphere height?

I have a pair of the RS2 units but have yet to use them as base-rover combo.?ÿ I've been connecting to the WiDOT WISCORS network through a Verizon WiFi using a MicroSurvey DC 6 collector running Windows Mobile 6.1.?ÿ ?ÿ I've only used this in fairly open areas so far and results are fine.?ÿ With that DC setup, its refresh rate while staking out a point was painfully slow but I've been told that has been resolved with the Android version.?ÿ Just today I received a table with FieldGenius for Android loaded... anxious to try it out.?ÿ I purchased the units from E38 Survey Solutions in Ohio and the support there from Joe Douglas has been fantastic.?ÿ?ÿ?ÿ

You could buy one of them and use their FREE app (ReachView) on a smartphone (IOS or Android) for RTK work.?ÿ Not that I would use a smartphone as a full time data collector but something you could use in a pinch.?ÿ ?ÿThe latest version of ReachView has thousands of coordinate systems preloaded.?ÿ Note that you can't "play" with ReachView until its connected to an Emlid receiver.

And it was certainly not intended but it has survived a 6' pole tip over onto pavement and a drop to pavement from the roof of a truck (don't ask...).?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿResulted in very minor cosmetic damage (about a quarter inch gouge in one edge).?ÿ They are rugged units!?ÿ ?ÿImpressive for the price.?ÿ?ÿ

I have been using the current Android Version 1.7, started with?ÿ1.4..? I believe.
I have no lag on Stakeout.
I also purchased my RS2 from E38 and my tablet and FG direct from Microsurvey.
The only thing I can complain about is the sudden crash of the program.
Seems that if you switch a lot from Survey (point collection) to Stakeout it loads up the system somehow and will stop
If you do just topo all the time, seems to go for hours OK
