I have an Epoch 25 base w/ Zephyr Geodetic here that I use to collect static data and postprocess using OPUS. While the Epoch 25 base is fine for static data collection, I'd like to get a similarly inexpensive L1/L2 RTK rover. This is for hobby use not surveying (i.e., limited budget). Would anyone here happen to have a used 5700, 5800 or R7 rover they'd no longer using and would like to sell?

There is a trade in on the Epoch 25 due to the batteries being discontinued. You can trade it in for an updated epoch 50 for around 4k. Message me if you need additional information.

Thanks for the heads up. I think that would be a very good deal indeed if I had an Epoch 25 rover to trade in (mine is a base and the bases don't even have internal batteries) and most importantly if my budget was that high. My fault. I edited my budget out of my opening post. My budget is about $1200 or so.

You will probably need to think older models for 1200 dollars target; KFC bucket (aka Trimble 4800), 4700, 4000, tsc1, etc...

You may want to consider L1 only post processed kinematic solution for your hobby. You could possibly be able to get it setup for that budget.

What area are you in? I've got a 5800 with dust on it.

If you don't mind me asking, what is your hobby that you want to use RTK GPS for?

I'm always interested to see how non-surveyors are applying precise positioning to various applications. For instance I know my uncle uses it on his tractor to plant row crops.

I have a pair of 5700's with Zephyr's and a TSCe I am selling but not exactly at your budget.

If you are ok with Ebay, you should be able to find a 5700 for $1200, then a Zephyr goes for around $300-400.

The 5700 is nice with the Dual battery capacity and logging to data card feature.

Good Luck,

It's entertaining, educational and ultimately meaningless. Just like life.
