It's on ebay though - you'd have to bid on it.

I just sold a set of Ashtech gear on Ebay consisting of Z-Surveyor and Z-Extreme. Including batteries, cards, charger, antennas and cables for around $1300. that system together with your dongle would have gotten someone into very productive dual frequency surveying for way under 2 grand. I am a bit surprised guys are so taken with the very limited capability of the OPUS receivers out there. I guess it's like do you want a new econo box or a used Mercedes Benz. True there's warranty and repair concerns but these older Ashtech boxes are pretty tough to beat and when you think about the increased work potential, well there's no comparison. Oh well, I have tried to sell here on SurveyorConnect but not too successfully. What I have left will probably all go to a dealer in Miami who then sells to South American surveyors.

Hope you do well on the dongle. Say, I have one as well (paid nearly a grand) and I wonder if you can just plug and play or do you need to redo licensing with Spectra. Do you know?

My dongle came from the Magellan days.

I had to download new drivers to get it to work and I got them from the iGage website (and the latest version of GNSS Solutions is there too) - Any Ashtech related downloads/info/updates/fixes...go there first. Better than the "official" website.

So no, I didn't have to redo any licensing.

It's a bit funny that the software itself is free - I always felt that buying the dongle made it "legit". I was never sure where you stood regarding using the software for commercial purposes if you got it for free...I suppose I could read the EULA..
The thing is I never had baselines over 10 miles and always found the results were practically the same without the dongle.

We had a bunch of PM 2's and 3's in survey school and a lecturer who worked for Ashtech so I have a soft spot for them. Was sorry they got bought out. Only Carlson left now to fly the independent flag!
