I owe this forum an apology for dropping this thread. Back in late April there were offers on all three remaining items and I let things slide.

Beginning on 25 April I got real busy with a environmental cleanup of legacy crude-oil spills on a parcel I own (there were over 2000 tons of contaminated material removed from about 0.5 acre of that 2.5-acre parcel), then a mad rush to get irrigation facilities in place to carry water across that parcel before water came down the ditch, then a couple of aging parents who seem to be losing skirmishes with gravity at an increasing frequency.

To bring things up to date -

The W. & L.E. Gurley No. 100 Reconnoissance transit sold to a historian of technology from Georgia who made an offer of $1,000 plus shipping on eBay.

The Troughton & Simms transit theodolite with tripod is still here. "briniker" said today that he will still honor his 25 April offer of $100 plus $25 to RPLS Today. I will soon post a separate thread for that item.

The Buff & Buff No. 2 transit is also here. Earlier today I sent "dms330" a message asking if he will still honor his 22 April offer of $250 plus $50 to Wendell. If I do not hear back from Dave by mid-day tomorrow I will start a separate thread for that item anyway.

Another thing - Mrs. Swart has stated she will donate 10 percent of the sale amount (exclusive of shipping charges) to this message board if the item sells through RPLS Today.

I have listed both items on eBay in the Fixed Price/Best Offer format at prices that are somewhat higher than we expect to actually receive. My eBay seller name is "artiekaye" (and has been since December 2000 so no one thinks I copied RPLS Today member "Artie Kay" from Scotland). The threads on the individual items will explain the planned process.

Mrs. Swart and I thank you for your interest!

GB

I would just like to say THANK YOU for the effort put into helping RPLS Today through your item sales. We really, truly appreciate it!

Glenn,

Maybe a year or more ago I purchased one of Charles' instruments from Ms. Swart with the help of Kent McMillan. I believe Ms. Swart had left for northern latitudes, as that is where I had mailed the funds. I would just like to say I hope she is doing well and enjoying the weather. 😉

Hi Glenn,

I will honor my previous bid on the Buff & Buff transit:

"The Buff & Buff No. 2 transit is also here. Earlier today I sent "dms330" a message asking if he will still honor his 22 April offer of $250 plus $50 to Wendell. If I do not hear back from Dave by mid-day tomorrow I will start a separate thread for that item anyway."

Thanks for getting back to me.

Dave.
