I see you use PayPal to sign up and pay. The Oregon GPS User‰Ûªs Group is contemplating using PayPal in the future for workshop and dues payments. Have you experienced any problems using this system?

John,
I was actually just passing on information and don't know all of the pros and cons of using PayPal, but Debra, our Executive Director, (and to provide full disclosure, she is the person fortunate enough to be married to me) has said that a good percentage of the people signing up for seminars use the PayPal function. The problem is the registration process, which currently still requires the individual to download, fill out and send in to her and there is a fee added on to the registration cost that PayPal charges. The Board is in the process of moving forward with the website to allow registration and payment online, which the membership is requesting.

You or someone with your group can contact her and she can explain it better. Her contact information is listed on the website, both email and phone number.

Alabama's summer seminar is at Perdido Key on the Gulf. Mississippi's is probably convenient to most surveyors, but you have to put up with all those Bulldog signs and cowbells in Starkville! Just joking!

So....................I should select Starkville over Perdido Key........................is that what you're suggesting? Are these Southern cow belles of which you speak?

Mr. Cow,
Mississippi State is sometimes referred to as Moo U, so it would probably be more to your liking than a hot, sandy beach! B-)

I attended Silo Tech instead of Snob Hill, so I probably wouldn't stand out on campus at all.

I just retired from my teaching career with my last semester being at Mississippi State University.
Great campus, great atmosphere, and my alma mata, Class of 1980, BSCE. Go Dawgs!

For those interested in the seminar, there will be a really good presentation on global positioning systems by the knowledgeable people at Navigation Electronics out of Jackson. It is highly recommended.
