I will be sitting for the Oregon exam in October. Has anyone else gone through the new process of testing then applying? Just curious if they are getting the kinks worked out yet...

Wasn't sure what you were referring too until I visited OSBEELS
http://www.oregon.gov/Osbeels/Pages/registration.aspx

Im still a bit unsure. Maybe you are thinking you need to go through NCEES then OSBEELS??????
From the link :
Oregon-Specific Examinations
Applications for Oregon-Specific Examinations will continue to be received by the Board prior to the administration of the examinations.

Since this isn't your first license you should only be dealing with OSBEELS to take the state specific PLS exam, Not NCEES.
OSBEELS administers the state specific exam on it's own not through NCEES, so I don't see any need to be registering with ncees. (This is my understanding but a call to the board will answer any questions you may have.)

http://www.oregon.gov/Osbeels/docs/Form/2015_12_OR_SpecExamForm.pdf

For the Oregon specific exam you definitely have to be prequalified to take the test.

I sent my application in several months ago, they sent it back. I have to resubmit after passing the Oregon exam. At least they didn't cash the check and deny me.
All in all the process isn't bad, the direction candidates get when they try to apply for comity could be better.

When I took the Oklahoma test there were 6 comity applicants in the room and 3 new licenses were ultimately awarded that day. IMHO, it was not that tough. It seems (from that small sample) that the pass rate for comity seems to be about as low as for first timers. I suppose it must be a big time and cost saver for the board offices to only vet those that fully qualify for vetting.

I think the original poster is correct. I have a friend that originally applied to take Oregon four years ago and was approved, took it once and didn't pass and then waited a couple of years before trying again. I had signed for him as a reference the first time. I guess he has passed it now and they are asking him to now send his new application.

I think this is a great way to do it. Utah does it this way. Any joe off the street can go sit the exam. Once you pass it, then you submit your references and application and score to obtain the license. It would save time and money from not having to pre-qualify for the test.

That topic is worthy of a few beers in itself. I do believe many including myself have a story or 2 that goes along with communication from "The board".

My advise would be to check in often with them to ensure everything is good to go. Don't assume anything, they can be understaffed at time and it always helps your situation to be the squeaky wheel. Good luck.
