CEUs for CST Renewal

The CST hierarchy is set up such that an active participant should be advancing through the levels year by year. Which should make covering this CEU requirement a slam dunk. The only people who might have trouble are those that are not active.

Before the CEU requirements for registrants it was a lot tougher to get employers to support ongoing training. When the CEU/PDH requirements came into being the attendance at the annual conferences increased dramatically. So maybe the thinking is that requiring CEUs for CST will motivate employers to support their technician's career goals a little more. 

I had a nice conversation with Tim about this and I will most likely butcher the reason he gave me. 

But the quick version of it is certain Fed contracts are requiring CSTs to work on them. For the Feds to recognize it as a real cert, it has to have CEU requirements. 

The CEUs needed are honestly very low, but I think it will help with it being a more recognized certification and hopefully we will see more employers push it for their people. 

Part of a promotion with me, is passing the next level of the CST.... so as they move up, pay goes up and so does their role and responsibly. Makes it a clear goal for people rather than just saying "When we think you are ready..." that ends up never happening. 

People can correct me if I mis spoke on that reason. I can't remember the exact words Tim told me as its been a few weeks since our conversation about it.
