Grampa Walton is filling the role of Wyatt Earp.

James Stewart is barely in his 40's.

Shelley Winters has fewer than 200 notches on the headboard of her bed.

Dan Duryea is only 42.

Rock Hudson is filling the role of Young Bull (snort snort chuckle chuckle)

The future Rosco P. Coltrane is simply identified as Crater.

MeTV from 4 to 7 every afternoon has Tales of Wells Fargo.?ÿ Four are 30 minutes and one is an hour long.

Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday was a great performance.

In Winchester '73 there is a bit role for a very young Tony Curtis as a soldier in the Cavalry.?ÿ He, Rock Hudson and James Best (Rosco P.) were 24 or 25 at the time.?ÿ I'm still chuckling at Mr. Gay as a Bluejay in May was called Young Bull.

An oversight by the casting crew was having 48 year-old Will Geer (Grampa Walton) filling the role of Wyatt Earp because Wyatt Earp would have only been 28 in July 1876.

Betty White's first TV role was in 1939.

White began her television career in 1939, three months after her high school graduation, when she and a classmate sang songs from The Merry Widow on an experimental television show. White found work modeling, and her first professional acting job was at?ÿthe Bliss Hayden Little Theatre.

@holy-cow?ÿ

Seems like Will Geer was born old.?ÿ His early career was in Broadway plays.?ÿ After "Winchester '73" was filmed he apparently got blacklisted in Sen. McCarthy's 1950's witch hunt for being a member of the American Communist Party.

My personal favorite of all his wonderful film work was Bear Claw in Jeremiah Johnson.

@paden-cash?ÿ

Here's another actor that was born old.?ÿ His first appearance on television was in 1951 at age 67.?ÿ BTW, he was a civil engineer.

Recognize this face from many, many television shows.?ÿ You should.?ÿ He acted up until his death at about two weeks short of being 93 years old.

During one of his many appearances on the Johnny Carson show he told the following joke.

On a session of Johnny Carson's Tonight Show, Burt tells the joke of two ice fishermen. One fisherman is catching nothing while the other fisherman is hauling up numerous fish through his hole in the ice. Finally the first one in frustration, asks the second what was his fishing secret. The other man responds, "Yooommm gmm tm dmm wrmms wmmm." The first man quizzical asks "What did you say?" The second repeats the same gibberish to which the first admits he still doesn't understand. In mild frustration the second spits out what appears to be a wad of chew tobacco and replies "You got to keep your worms warm.".

It's Burt Mustin.

@holy-cow How Val Kilmer didn't win an Oscar for his portrayal of Doc Holliday is beyond me.

My wife is a huge Cary Grant fan, and I've become one as well. This movie is good clean fun, where the good and the bad people get what they deserve.

Dan Duryea was a freak show of acting talent. He almost always stole the movie. He made Winchester 73 a way better movie.?ÿ
