So my Border Collie Scout is now about 2.5 years old and still has the family jewels in tact. The wife, friends, and even vet keep trying to convince me to neuter him, the vet even said it could cause cancer not to (hard to believe).

I have had a lot of dogs in the past all from pound and neutered already, not the case this time and gotta tell ya when actually faced with it, its actually pretty hard to put a dog pal in the car and take him to get his jewels cut off, not a good day for anyone.

Plus, he is a purebred dog and has the lineage paperwork, in some ways it seems like neutering him would be kind of a shame.

What do you think?

Keep'em or Chop'em

(BTW - Scout is right here by me looking at the screen, he seems a little nervous)

If he's not being a dominant jerk or humping passersby, let him be.

I dunno...

But the first time we took our cat anywhere in the car was to the vet to have him neutered. Oddly enough, whenever we have had the cat in the car since he screams nonstop like an air raid siren.

Dogs don't read your mind, but they sure look at the pictures!

BL-

If he has a good history of genetic lines do not neuter him.

SWMBO is a breeder of Goldens http://www.grahamgolden.com/ and we have two intact males.

It is very useful to determine for sure when the females are in heat, but also a bit frustrating for about three weeks.

Cheers

If he is kept shut in so that he isn't knocking up every unspayed female in the neighborhood then do as you wish. If not, there are already far too many homeless animals in this world.

The dog will be fine without.

[msg][/msg]It would depend on his temperament if I were making the call. He should be who he is by now. Most of the puppy gone. If he is a suitable stud and he is not to wild let him keep his boys.

My females are a different story. If they are not to be bred I say clean them out like a pumpkin at halloween asap. Heat sucks for all parties involved.

Do Jack proud, let his replacement keep his beans.

My advice - "Get ur done"
They don't know the difference.
Actually - I have 2 cats now who are fixed
and they are male and act/are gay...
Whatever floats their boat:'(

Quit licking each other!

One is Cisco but I call him Thisco

They lick each other... because they recognize that an injury occurred.

I same Far Side Cartoon came to mind.....

Scout, old buddy, old pal

Do you like opera?
Do you like watching The View?
Do you like weiners?
Do you like Dancing with the Stars?
Do you like chewing light-colored loafers?
Do you like flan?

If the answer to all the above is yes; you don't need them in the first place.

If you go that route be sure to get him a loving wife like Mr. Buster the Bearcat has 😉

Keep 'em. I have a border collie cross and he's the best dog, I'm sorry we had it done.

If he is not causing a problem with a neighbors female dog or if he is not overly aggressive, I say keep him whole.

If you're not going to breed him, chop em'... It's the responsible dog owner thing to do.
