Dogs can get to your very soul faster than any other creature on earth.
Do you really think that is just happenstance that, in our language, "dog" if "God" spelled backwards?
They are a special gift to make our lives easier to bear.
She'll Be Over The Rainbow Bridge
Sorry Wendell.
I know that deep void too well.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Wendell and Angel,
I'm so sorry to hear about Taco. I remember meeting her when I visited you in Dallas.
Tyler
Such unconditional love we only rarely experience. So sorry for your loss, but happy for the obvious joy you each experienced with each other.

Awww..I like that one!! That made me tear up.. :'(
I feel your pain. We lost our beloved golden, Cody, on May 1. One of the hardest things we experienced.
The pain of your loss is defined by the joy of your relationship. Rejoice in your memories of the wonderful companionship you enjoyed. Nothing can change that.
Wendell....
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss..
I am very touched by your extraordinary relationship with such a great companion... they truly give more than they receive so often in this world.
You were so lucky to find each other and enjoy those years together. A double blessing!
There are still some great ones out there willing to give more than they receive. And if we're lucky, fate will bring them into our lives.
Bask in Tacos memory, for those were truly priceless and unique times! Keep her in your heart, safe from the pain of this world. And enjoy those memories!
You and Angel are in my thoughts and prayers...
Onward, through the fog....
Angel -
I tear up too looking at it. :'(
Here's hoping the coming year brings better things to you and Wendell. You've more than earned it.
Sounds like Taco was a great dog. Saved a litter of another dog's pups while she was herself under a death sentence, only to go right back after that selfless act.
It also sounds like she got the home and family she deserved after that. You're good people Wendell & Angel.
Angel,
Life really sucks sometimes. But then it gets better. Hopefully after we've gone through it, we come out to find our character a little stronger and our hearts a little softer, though by what I've read from you in the past, you don't really need much improvement in either respect as you are already an outstanding human being.
You're both in my prayers.
She'll Be Over The Rainbow Bridge
Remember the kindness and love, and another friend will find you - to share your lives together.
(So glad you posted this - it got us thru the same, 6 years ago)
It sucks losing your best friend. I'm sorry for your loss. I can really relate. ~Willy
Update: We're Hanging In There...
Just a quick note to thank all of you guys for the kind thoughts and words regarding our doggys passing. :dog:
It's weird around here without her, but we're managing. I find myself doing all sorts of "doggy parent" things like reaching back to pet her, saving table scraps for her, etc... then face palming myself because I forget she isn't here anymore. :'( The vets were so gracious and compassionate; they a very nice paw print memorial stone for us.
The cats have been hovering more than usual...and have been glued to our sides or glued close by us. Daisy has taken over Tacos bed. That was partially why I didn't want to get rid of it just yet; as fat as she is, it fits her well. :snarky:
Anyhow, I have been meaning to write this but with me being gone for 2+ weeks, then getting the flu, I have been down for the count!! 😐
But, better late than never...right?? I hope everyone is doing well and staying warm. :sun:
Take care, guys. Thank you again for your continued support and friendship. :-$
Update: We're Hanging In There...
Somewhere out there is a beautiful, lonely big-eyed puppy, sitting and shivering and waiting for just the right folks to come take him or her home. Think of the blind faith and love that requires...
You should go look for that puppy. He or she is waiting....;-)

We may in the future...the new place we're moving to doesn't allow big dogs so I'd have to get me a small mutt of some sort. I'd like a "rat" dog of some sort. B-)
Sorry to hear that Wendell.
That first pic is great. You can see the "i'm patiently waiting for my treat ---- now give it to me" look in the eyes.
