Have a few seats left on the coach to the Buffet show at Alpine Valley. (his favorite place to play) Anyone in the area interested? Deral, will that bike make it to Milwaukee by Saturday? Show's this weekend so we would have to work fast. Hurricane season is at my house on Sunday (the party after the party is always great).

If only it was further South...

Jimmy Buffett
Last time he got up here this early one of his comments was "it was a looong winter....still is" It was a balmy 55° that evening. He was still barefoot. I wasn't. Should be about 75° this time. Parking lot awta be real pretty.
Jimmy Buffett
Used to like him but he is to liberal for me anymore.

William,
I use to think the same about most bands. I just set it aside and enjoy the music. I remember buying "You had to be there"(8 track) and "Volcano" (album). I learned later that if you like the music ..well you like the music. Most bands I think keep their mouth shut on their political affiliations. I think they found out that their fan base would be diminished if they kept their views as part of their music.
Personally I can't stand Neil Young...guess it's his voice and second his political stance.
Buffett is one of a kind....relaxing fun and a blast. I have Sirius radio and listen to him all the time....yup...kind of a Parrot head.
BTW it was Tim Scmidt(sp) who coined that phrase while playing with Jimmy and the CR's at some concert. (Tim from The Eagles and Poco)
75°?
Is that considered a heat wave?
75°?
As of lately you bet. When he's here in August and we get 90's plus, the parking lot show has a tendency to get breaster...er I mean better.
Jimmy Buffett
Just, you are right. I see Jimmy as a place to go in my mind when I want to be somewhere else. The guy makes a ton of money and can say what ever he wants. Sometimes I like to put the politics away and just "go to the Bahama's" Even if its only in my head.
"You had to be there" Wow, I used to do God's Own Drunk in the bars.
A Parrothead
75°?
:good:
Alpine Valley....Now there's some good memories (from what I can remember, anyways).
Oh yeah. 3 years ago we came back to town with one extra guy on the bus. No one realized until about 2 in the morning when things shut down here (bus leaves at 10:00 AM). He was from the Twin City's. Had a heck of a time getting home.
Umm... Loyal?
I'm not getting a lot out of that.
Don
Edit: never mind:-)You fixed it, or I saw something that wasn't really there
Don
Try again...I screwed it up first try (I used to know how to do this on the old board).

He did a LOT for the Gulf Coast last summer for the oil spill cleanup. He (and several others) gave concerts to raise money for the area. His family is from the Mobile area and his sister owns a restaurant/nightclub in Gulf Shores.

It doesn't even have to be early in the concert season to be cold in WI. My daughter helped me and other parrotheads in our local club with a beach clean-up we sponsored a few years back. She was 7 at the time. As I was tucking her into bed later that night, she asked me if she could go to a Buffett concert with me. I told her "Yes, but you have to wait two years" (figuring she'd forget all about it). The problem was, she never forgot about it (funny how kids can forget something as simple as putting the cap back on the toothpaste but will harbor a parent-promise for several years).
In any event, as a big Buffett fan, I checked off one of my "bucket list" items and took three generations of my family to the 2009 Summerzcool tour at Alpine. The date of that concert was August 29 and I recall a show-time temperature of something like 54°. The rain and drizzle came half-way into the show. Although the weather sucked, it was still one of my favorite shows I've ever attended.
I can't make Alpine this year but I'll be tuned into Radio Margaritaville on Saturday night with my feet up on the deck, a cold margarita in-hand with an Alpine state of mind. 😉 Enjoy the show!
