I'm not, in any way, shape or form, implying anything, but; this is the third month in a row that I have been booked solid.
And it's a broad spectrum of clients: commercial and private. We actually just turned in final markups for a small (12 lot) residential development that had been shelved for 2 years.
I'm far from humming "Happy Days Are Here Again" but things look better than they have for a blue moon. I hope it's infectious and spreads far and wide.
Anybody else noticing an increase in workload?
Maybe I'm just moving slower, but, life is quite busy.
cannot catch up.
I have been called out of retirement, once again on my terms, by those who have worked with me in the past.
I think that means very little as those of us who are at a certain place have a known value.
I have been through several decades of surveying "economics" and I can say that we get the first layoffs and the first callbacks. The callbacks have been pretty sparse in the last few years for many surveyors. Newly graduated surveyors are probably wondering what else they could have done for a profession.
Like the OP, I'm trying to be cautious about this being turned into a P&R thread.
Some of us may be very well off financially and professionally but many others, more others than I can ever remember, are not well off or coming upon better times.
And for Paden, my favorite Harry Truman story dates from when the Supreme Court (entirely appointed by himself and FDR) declared his seizure of the steel mills unconstitutional. Justice Jackson and the rest felt bad for Harry and invited him over for refreshments:
"well Jackson, I don't give a damn for your law. But this is really good bourbon."
It's good to find common ground.
I've got more Expert Witness work than I've had in years. Seems like the lawyers are investing their notarial savings (and their clients, too) like they're expecting big things on the horizon!
I have no idea if there's anything political associated with this uptick in work.
Been running hard since December.
We've been solid since March...going to need to hire an office guy again soon!
I'm about to hire back an employee that I had to fire a few years back.
I'm not sure what is going on around here. I was busy as all get out through the first of June, and since then almost dead silence. I have a couple of things going on, but certainly not enough to sustain anything... especially bill paying. I need for things to change, and quick!!

I don't tend to re-hire those I have fired. Now those that were laid-off because of a lack of work is a whole nother story.B-)
Busier than I have been in 3 years with no sign of a slow down.
Have been relatively busy here - out of work next week. Have written a TON of proposals, no one is proceeding with work - perhaps waiting for the election. I've told a few clients that depending on the outcome of the election I may no longer be here...
NO....that's a capital NO by the way...:-(
I'm like you, Carl. Fairly normal through April, then everything just stopped. I had to lay off my long time employee in May. I have one medium-sized job keeping me busy now, but nothing else new coming in.
We seem to be staying pretty busy. I got two decent surveys in yesterday and just bid on an ALTA that would keep us busy for a few weeks. Fingers crossed 😉
