I need to be able to receive a fax from the VA and do not have a fax machine anymore and I got to wondering if there is some kind of techie method of receiving a fax.

There are apps for your cell phone, your computer email will fax to a phone number and the VA has email. If you don't have a scanner you're up the creek. But wait a minute. If you have a cell phone it also has a scanner app.

That is a no no for the VA because of PID and the ease of distribution with email.?ÿ

Not sure what they need to fax, but how come they can't use the My HealtheVet portal? That is how I deal with messaging, prescriptions and other such matters. It is supposed to be the secure system for sharing your personal data with the VA.
I have used https://www.trustfax.com/index.jsp for many years, got an old plan for I think $20 a year, now I see it is $120 a year. Probably less than 20 pages a year, BUT there are some folks who still use and require them, mostly banks and federal offices. For the $120 I might 2nd think the decision, but for my old plan with limited number of pages it is a much easier choice.
No machine needed, incoming are a PDF attachment to an e-mail and outgoing is a scan, goes through their service so people with old school machines can get them.

Problem solved. I had to hit the road at 6 am to go to the Atlanta V.A. Regional office to pick up what I needed as it was becoming impossible to avoid the unpleasantness of that trip to the big city.
