I've deleted a bunch of them since yesterday.

They are coming from rpls.com (POB)
Not rplstoday.com (Wendell or this site)
I suspect that they 'upgraded' their site and by doing so, they wiped out everyone's previous settings or installed something to send out forum notices. But who knows

You won't get any notifications from this website unless you specifically ask for them. Tapatalk may send notifications, but those are from Tapatalk (not us) and you'd have to change your Tapatalk settings.
Plus, we'll never sell or give away your information to anyone.
Three more since the last post. The most recent includes the following words in what I can see without clicking (HOW TO GET RID OF THESE ANNOYING MESSAGES). That's definitely a red flag. Somebody really, really wants me to open one of these messages.
Some of the messages call me out by the handle I used on that site.

Yeah, I thought I was immune. Then I checked a very old and cob-web covered AOL account. 8 emails a day from BNP since Thursday. Thirty something of them. They're all spam now.
Does anybody know anybody's social security or Discover card number over there? I think I know some Croatians that could use that info...
26 emails from them. What a way to encourage me never to return.

I'm sorry. I was incorrect. I thought it was this site by some of the info in the messages. It is definitely spam.

The domain is bnpmedia dot com
The irony of receiving a spam email pointing to a thread about bnp spam emails.
One more in the last hour.
Someone out there is doing some serious phishing for surveyors.

You might want to move this from Chit Chat to another category that everyone gets to see. Everyone needs to be alerted.
a few things...
the "from" address is often spoofed.. apparently it is easy, I get spam from Me frequently
do Not reply to those things or click on the links, they are easily spoofed also
last: BPN is a long term spammer, and they feed the spammers ( http://lists.infogroupmediasolution...426A127CEF40?page=research/datacard&id=183166)

No worries, man. 🙂

Hmmm, good point.
Two more in past 40 minutes.
As Robert did, I unsubscribed and it stopped. I hope all is well. I hate these kind of things. Never really know.
For the record, I received a bazillion notifications as well. Looking around, it seems that everyone may be defaulted to receive notifications for some of the forums. I found a thread where someone (don't remember who) said that you have to visit each forum and unsubscribe. However, I found an easier way.
- Once you are logged in, go to http://community.pobonline.com/myaccount#settings_subscriptions
- Then select "None" next to each forum, then click the Save button at the bottom.
Hopefully, that will stop the notifications.
Technically, they aren't spam if you setup your account there to receive notifications. However, if you never specified that you wanted notifications in the first place, it *could* be construed as spam. It really just depends on their Terms of Use and if you agreed to receive notifications when you created an account there.

So do you think by unsubscribing we're safe?

Unsubscribing from forum threads doesn't mean you are removing yourself from all of their mailing lists. The instructions I provided above only apply to their forum. Furthermore, there's no way for me to know how it's all setup. But by unsubscribing from forum threads, you shouldn't be getting any more forum notifications.
I'm writing a quick article about this to make sure everyone aware that the barrage of emails are NOT coming from RPLS Today. I've received several messages from folks who think they are coming from us.
Happy to confirm spam is not being sent by our beloved site. No spam for me today. If I was ever a member on "the other site", they have an expired email for me.
