I knew it was south of Bend, just couldn't think of the name. My first clue was the mountains in the background though, Broken Top, Pilot Butte and Mount Washington (I think, might be Jefferson though)

We parked at the visitor center at Lava Butte and then walked up to the lookout. There was a ranger up there who told us about his adventures in fire watching. They catch arsonists all the time... Just the day before, they caught a guy setting 3 fires.

The hike up is easier than we expected, only 1.75 miles one way and 530 feet elevation. Perfect weather too, about 70 degrees with an occasional light breeze.

We love doing this kind of stuff. ????
